Re: Latest on the Corona Virus
Here is a website that has all the statistics. Scroll down to "Confirmed Cases and Deaths by Country, Territory, or Conveyance" and you have a very useful table. You can use the up and down arrows on any column and view the numbers in ascending or descending order for that column. Although the USA may have the most total cases, when viewed by Total Cases/1M pop the USA ranks as 19th.

Re: Latest on the Corona Virus
Dr. Devi Nampiaparampil appeared on Fox News Tuesday to explain why the new coronavirus saliva testwould help conserve protective health care equipment and improve the testing operation in general.
Dr. Devi Nampiaparampil: New saliva-based coronavirus test is a '''positive development''' | Fox News
“Right now, we’re relying on the nasal swab," the author of "Coronavirus Made Simple" said.
"A health care provider usually on the front lines has to come really close to the patient to be able to get that swab -- to get that test. And in order to do that, he or she has to have a lot of protective equipment on like gowns, gloves, masks, the whole works," the director of Metropolis Pain Medicine said.
While the saliva test entails the patient spitting into a tube for the health care provider to extract for testing purposes, there is an “additional distance” between the two parties that prevents the need to switch out protective equipment.
“And it’s much easier to actually get the tests done and to do on a larger scale,” Nampiaparampil said, calling the saliva-based test a "positive development."
The Food and Drug Administration granted emergency use authorization (EUA) to Rutgers' saliva testing approach, which is the first FDA-approved testing method that does not use invasive cotton swabs to collect samples, the university announced in a Monday press release.
The school's new saliva test is expected to help mitigate swab-based testing shortages across the country. It is also expected to present less risk to health care workers since potential COVID-19-positive patients can take the tests at home rather than have one conducted by a medical professional in-person.Comment

For all of you nay sayers who oppose the use of hydroxychloroquine simply because President Trump supports the use of it and you you feel that it needs proper and complete testing, a year and a half from now after that testing has approved hydroxychloroquine as an accepted treatment what will you say to the families and friends of those who will have died, but could have lived if they had been treated with hydroxychloroquine?
Rita Wilson opens up about coronavirus symptoms, warns about '''extreme''' chloroquine side effects | Fox News
"I was very tired. I felt extremely achy," Wilson detailed her symptoms to King. "Uncomfortable, didn't want to be touched and then the fever started. Chills like I've never had before. Looking back, I realize I was also losing my sense of taste and smell which I didn't realize at the time."
Wilson shared her fever reached its highest temperature about nine days following her positive test results.
"I think it got close to 102," she said.
The actress revealed she was given chloroquine, a drug that has been used to prevent and treat malaria that is being studied as a possible COVID-19 treatment.
She said her fever subsided after taking chloroquine, but she's not sure if it's the reason it went away.
"I can only tell you that I don't know if the drug worked or if it was just time for my fever to break, but my fever did break," she explained. "But the chloroquine had extreme side effects."
After being treated with chloroquine, Wilson shared she felt "completely nauseous" and suffered from vertigo.
"I could not walk," she said. "My muscles felt very weak."
"I think people have to be very considerate about that drug," the star added. "We don't really know if it's helpful in this case."

Re: Latest on the Corona Virus
I used to know a pharmacist many years ago... one day we got to talking about doctors... he told me that more often than not he would have to give doctors a good tongue lashing for send a prescription that would probably kill the patient...
I asked... surely the doctor understands what he is prescribing...
He gave me a look and told me... most doctors only know what the pharmaceutical sales guy recommends... and most pharmaceutical sales guys are former pharmacists.... most doctors have no clue of the side effects or ill effects of a particular drug...
then he went on to say... in cases where prescriptions cause death...
the doctor may get a slap on the wrist...
but the pharmacist loses their license...
I say that to say this...
in the case of this corona covid 19 virus...
it may be a wise idea to consult your local pharmacist on his or her opinion...
they may have definite ideas on how to save your life...
where as the doctor would probably just throw you on one of those death trap ventilators...Sad To Say I Don't Have a Life
I do this stuff on the weekends tooComment

Pharming to change the genes of an animal to produce substance. Whether that substance is good for the animal or otherwise.
Pharmacology: (By deduced definition)

Is it a coincidence where medical and computer "Pharming" are defined under the same dictionary heading. The distinction of each definition could be construed as being similiar to one another.
Just a coincidence....

Rita Wilson and her husband Tom Hanks were the first celebrities to reveal they tested positive for the coronavirus last month. Now, the singer and actress has opened up in greater detail about the couple's symptoms and their experience with the controversial drug chloroquine.

Just couldn't help yourself, huh? Had to put that last little parting shot about Trump in there.
As for Rita's "Extreme side-effects", that's laughable! Nausea and "vertigo"!?!? People get that when they drink a couple shots too many! I've had worse side-effects from Spinning in a circle in my front lawn!
You want to talk about "extreme side-effects" - Just turn your T.V. on, and watch ANY drug commercial. "(Insert Drug Here)'s Side effects include, but are not limited to: High BP/ Extreme weight loss/ Eyes turn yellow and bleed/ lowers your immune system/ higher risk for heart attack/ blindness/ hearing loss/ weight gain/ rashes/ kidney failure/ sudden fainting/ trouble breathing/ no appetite/ yadda yadda yadda....."
So, I'm thinking people will be fine with a little nausea and dizziness.
As with any Drug.....I think people are going off what their Doctor's suggest......The same doctor's that are the ones who Actually prescribe or Administer the medicine. Don't think President Trump is making that choice for them.OmertÃComment
