everybody here is in your position...
try to fix as much as you can over the phone...

family member who is a nurse told me... the following
getting zinc supplement it fights off colds and flus...

if you have to go on site...
drink lots of water and lots of juices... no soda...
don't skip meals...
if you were in an environment where people are sick...
once you get home... get a shower when you get home
dose up with your cold medicine...
theraflu, nyquil the works
wear work gloves and underneath wear doctors gloves... best for this are walmart gloves...
wear some kind of protective eye wear.. sunglasses nothing too crazy...
get a bandana to cover your mouth... like 7 of them... one for each day of week...
be quick but courteous about the work... don't spend time talking to clients...
in and out...
if customer asks you why you are dressed like you are... tell them its work place policy...
reduce your tool set...
and wipe everything down in wipes every day...
in your vehicle change your cabin filter...
and have hand wipes and hand sanitizer...
and clean rags...
when work day is done... grab a shower and spray down work clothes with lysol... before throwing in wash..
wear undershirts... carry an extra shirt in car... and have an undershirt or two... for spare...
most of all don't freak out... this might be for a season or it might be your new normal...
we will wait and see...

Ok all. Who is working on the front line on printers/copiers in covid areas? We are working with a crew of 3 and we take a week each. Some of these machines maybe right in ICU or emergency areas. Some right on the counters. Prisons, mental institutions also where we have out breaks in Louisiana. Masks are hard to come by and we have to find our own. And reuse. We may be in some areas where full ppe needs to be worn. And there seems to be no end In sight. Getting paid but no extra pay. I have high blood pressure. Worried as hell. Anyone else in this position?

nice in short term if it happens... but long term wise... economic disaster... can you say great great depression...

I mean we are copier techs not medical workers. It's crazy we have to go right in the front areas and get exposure like this. And then a lot of the customers that are open are the cheap ones that there machine is over 12 years old and the want asap. Service. But now have no money to buy a new one. Want to spend hours of exposure to rebuild this junk and get exposure in questionable areas.

I lived through a couple of mice plagues over the many years.
Ever seen what happens to 50+ rodents when you pack them into a cage?
Inside of three days the rodents begin to cannibalize each other.
By the end of the week there is only a dominant few rodents left.
By the end of two weeks only a single dominant male is left.

What happens to the people inside their homes after the Covid-bug pandemic becomes cabin fever pitch?
What happens to the people inside their homes when the government coffers run out of money?
Assuming the people still have enough to eat, they will become increasingly frustated an angry at their house arrest.

With frustration levels at boiling point people will look for a release or copping sink-hole to dump their negative emotional energy into. Right about the same time as human emotions begin to boil, the media will start informing the public which country is to blame for the Covid-bug outbreak. They will be told "here is your real enemy", time to take revenge and release all your pent up frustration onto your enemy... We need to go to War against our enemies...

With masses of people entering the shark frenzy frustration stage, those pivotal people could be told that the Easter bunny is the cause of all their frustration, and they need to wage War with the Easter bunny.

And people will again believe every thing they have been told, and will carry out their own demise with valour.... Like rodents packed in a cage.

I have one large healthcare location that we service where an entire floor has been quarantined due to COVID-19. 63 people are in isolation on that floor and five people have died.

We have told this location that we will only service equipment that is rolled down to the loading dock. We sanitize the equipment before and after we touch it. Out techs wear masks and dispose of their gloves. We do not travel one inch inside the hospital.

If you are a crew of three, none of you should ever be back at your workspace at the same time. When in your workspace limit your movements to specific areas.

Neither your employer nor the customer has the right to tell you what you feel is unsafe to do. Keep paper records of any negative backlash.
