Back in the day (late 80's early 90's) it was a suit & tie.

Now I simply wear smart shoes, suit trousers & plain shirt. (no tie)

However IT/Network support dress like a courier driver, usually in shorts & T regardless of the weather.

Very interesting since your profile says New York.

Back in the day, here in Kern County LA branch salesmen would show up in their 3 piece dark suits and the local farming community would basically b told to go to hell. Over dressing can be as bad as under dressing. Know your customer base.

I agree but will add one small point. As someone that has been in (and still am) sales, when I show up wearing dress pants, shirt & tie, it's a turnoff to a good ol' country boy and such. However what's a bigger turn off is to talk and act like a businessman. You all know what I'm talking about...the typical sales voice??!!

I've found that in this situation that it doesn't really much matter if I'm dressed in a suit, it's more important to get on their level - talk like they talk. For me, I grew up in the country, so it isn't hard.

Since you're working with CMYK toners, wear tie dye everything

And what can happen when working with printers, they can't suddenly explode, right? It may be worth picking up clothes of a certain color, so that if the ink gets from the cartridge, the clothes do not get too dirty.

In my opinion, you can work in clothes of any color except white. Since traces of paints will be best seen on white clothes. However, my friend in the Emirates decided to do something specific with his clothes. He understood that he would not be able to save his working
Jilbabs from paint, so he decided to stain them himself. Thus, he managed to make unusual clothes that can be stained with paint.
                  Paint?
I don't know of ANY printer that uses paint.

                    Have we covered shoes yet?

Recomend a soft sole shoe that can flex when crouching.

Good point Dave. Crouching with official shoes can be painful. I prefer dark sneakers or low touristic shoes in winter.

Not always a good idea unless you keep a pair of steel toe work shoes in your car. I also carried a construction helmet, work gloves and high impact goggles in my vehicles. Required to enter some construction sites.
