Don't waste your time. They rarely read the articles they post, otherwise they would have seen the 5-4 ruling in the first article. They are captured by the clickbait headlines.

If only five Congressional Republicans woulld join the 213 CongressionalDemocrats to sign a "discharge petition", the US debt crisis would be over.

Republicans still command majorities in the "Ways and Means" and "Appropriations" committees which essentially control the purse strings of the US gov't. If the Republicans were serious about reducing US spending, here is where they could do it until the next election.

Republicans still command majorities in the "Ways and Means" and "Appropriations" committees which essentially control the purse strings of the US gov't. If the Republicans were serious about reducing US spending, here is where they could do it until the next election.

No, it would merely kick the can down the road, making the pain worse when the bill finally gets paid (or written off). That's what happens every single time the debt ceiling is reached, it's no longer urgent and so gets ignored, never fixed as it should be.
