YouTube moves to prevent RT, other Russian channels from earning revenue
The decision follows similar moves by Facebook and Twitter
YouTube has taken action against several of its Russian channels, including state-backed Russia Today, to prevent them from using the platform to generate revenue.
The company, as reported by Reuters, cited "extraordinary circumstances" in its reasoning and said it is "pausing a number of channels’ ability to monetize on YouTube, including several Russian channels affiliated with recent sanctions."
YouTube spokesperson Farshad Shadloo said content from the outlets impacted by the decision will also show up less frequently as recommendations, according to Reuters. He also stated that content from RT and other Russian channels would not be accessible in Ukraine due to a "government request."
The decision follows similar moves by Facebook and Twitter to prevent Russian state media from advertising and monetizing content on its platform.
In a tweet, Nathaniel Gleicher, head of security policy at Facebook, said the company is "now prohibiting Russian state media from running ads or monetizing on our platform anywhere in the world."
"We also continue to apply labels to additional Russian state media," Gleicgher added. "These changes have already begun rolling out and will continue into the weekend."
Announced Friday in a tweet, Twitter suspended advertisements in Russia and Ukraine.

... real signs now that Russia's attack on Russia is running low on ammo, missiles and fuel and will be unable to continue much longer than ten days more.
Russian conscript troops are surrendering to Ukrainian forces.
Russian losses in armored vehicles and aircraft are much higher than expected due to much stiffer resistance from Ukrainian forces who are being resupplied with advanced munitions from NATO and around the world.
Russia is proposing peace talks on their terms in Belarus in hopes to bring an end to the war so that they can save face and avoid defeat.Comment

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a brief televised statement that he doesn’t expect much from a meeting between Ukrainian and Russian delegations on Monday.
“I will say frankly, as always: I do not really believe in the result of this meeting, but let them try. So that no citizen of Ukraine would have any doubt that I, as president, did not try to stop the war when there was even a small chance,” Zelensky said.“And while our guys are there, the president is here, the chief of staff is here, the prime minister is here, the army is here, the commander-in-chief is here. We will all defend our state and our borders,” he added.
Earlier Sunday, Ukraine’s Deputy Interior Minister Evgeny Yenin said talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations will take place Monday morning local time at the border between Belarus and Ukraine.

White House responds to Russia’s decision to put deterrence forces on high alert
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Sunday that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to put Russia’s deterrence forces, which includes nuclear arms, on high alert are part of a wider pattern of unprovoked escalation and “manufactured threats” from the Kremlin.
“This is really a pattern that we’ve seen from President Putin through the course of this conflict, which is manufacturing threats that don’t exist in order to justify further aggression – and the global community and the American people should look at it through that prism,” Psaki told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on “This Week.”
Additionally, a senior administration official told CNN on Sunday that Putin’s move was “yet another escalatory and totally unnecessary step,” a senior administration official said Sunday.
“At every step of this conflict Putin has manufactured threats to justify more aggressive actions – he was never under threat from Ukraine or from NATO, which is a defensive alliance that will not fight in Ukraine,” the official said.
“The only reason his forces face a threat today is because they invaded a sovereign country, and one without nuclear weapons.
This is yet another escalatory and totally unnecessary step,” they added.
Putin’s move comes in the face of universal condemnation from Western powers over Moscow’s unprovoked assault on Ukraine, now in its fourth day.Comment

The right wingers are stumbling all over themselves. They don't know which side of this to come out on. On one side if they come out against Russia they would be agreeing with the Dems, which won't do at all. On the other side there are problems coming out in favour of Russia, like trump did.Comment
