The up/down and travel is just getting to be too much anymore. I'm ready to draw SSA, but don't want to be sitting at home doing nothing. I wouldn't mind doing remote phone support type of thing part time each week. My previous employer had me fixing hardware and doing remote IT support for equipment. Current employer, I am just a wrench. What are some good opportunities for a semi-retired guy?
I'm considering retiring

I haven't done it yet because I still like the driving and the customers.
Good luck which ever way you go. -
Do the IT thing. I don't know how much work you'd get trying to do everything remotely, but the work is there. At least in my area. Copiers are kinda a pain in the ass compared to computers.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

I did, last year and do not regret it for one minute. I'm 54, debt free and watched too many people I know in my life work for the golden number of 65 and totally missed the boat due to sickness or death. I created or stepped into serval struggling copier businesses to turn them financially successful, I still own a leasing company I've created but it's mostly a passive income where I just collect my payments. Since retirement, I've been sky diving three times, I hike and bike any day at any time and have planned a month long trip to Ecuador to climb the Andes mountains and I still want to learn to fly an airplane. The funny thing about retirement is I lose track of the days, I couldn't tell you most days what day of the week it is and love every minute of it. You have one life to live, retirement is just the beginning of stepping off of the never ending staircase of success. Retirement for me is just another opportunity to create what I want in my life and open the door to new opportunities, places and people. When asked, "what is the meaning of life?," my response- to LIVE it. Find your true passions in life and conquer them, that's what retirement is for, do it while you're young enough to enjoy it and NEVER look back!!👍 4Comment
