However, according to your link, they are protesting to end the national emergency declaration; thank you for setting me straight. I still stand by my original dislike of blocking roads and disrupting commerce.
Additionally, I'm from Cleveland, not Chicago. We keep our shootings on the east side of this city.
Ironically, Billys previous post about not being a national issue just got shot to shit, so thanks again!

I doubt if they will be blocking roads as they cross the country. Other than from Adelanto to Barsto, they will be on Interstate Freeways other when the RON, Rest Over Night. Leaving Adelanto they may take US 395 north to Kramer Junction where they will then take SR 58, freeway to Barstow or they make county roads to I15. At Barstow they will get on I40 to Oklahoma City, then I44 to St Louis and finally I70 all the way to the beltway.

National Guard to deploy 700 troops in D.C. to control truck convoy, says Pentagon

The Pentagon has approved the deployment of 700 unarmed National Guard troops to the nation’s capital as it prepares for trucker convoys that are planning protests against pandemic restrictions beginning next week.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin approved the request Tuesday from the District of Columbia government and the U.S. Capitol Police, the Pentagon said in a statement Tuesday night.
The troops would be used to assist with traffic control during demonstrations expected in the city in the coming days, the Pentagon said. Four hundred Guard members from the District of Columbia Guard will be joined by 300 Guard members from other states, according to the statement.
Guard members will not carry firearms or take part in law enforcement or domestic-surveillance activities, the Pentagon said.

Modeled after recent trucker protests in Canada, separate truck convoys have been planned through online forums with names like the People’s Convoy and the American Truckers Freedom Fund — all with different starting points, departure dates and routes. Some are scheduled to arrive in time for President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on March 1, though others may arrive afterward.

The U.S. convoys seek an immediate lifting of what they say are heavy-handed government pandemic restrictions like mask mandates and vaccine requirements. The American Truckers Freedom Fund website says the group is protesting “the unscientific, unconstitutional overreach of the federal government.”

Vaccines have proven highly effective at preventing COVID-19 infections, especially serious illness and death, and high-quality masks offer strong protection against spreading or contracting the disease. Public sentiment, especially among conservatives, has been shifting against government mandates as the pandemic heads into its third year.

Hopefully they are feeding and housing them properly this time.

You're a day late. I posted the link to that yesterday. Maybe if you would read the articles that I post you might not keep making a fool of yourself by posting the same thing the next day.

... when the gov't calls out the National Guard as one means to control a protest, you know you are on the wrong side of any grievance.

                              You sound ignorant. Please stop.

On May 4, 1970, in Kent, Ohio, 28 National Guardsmen fire their weapons at a group of anti-war demonstrators on the Kent State University campus, killing four students, wounding eight, and permanently paralyzing another. The tragedy was a watershed moment for a nation divided by the conflict in Vietnam, and further galvanized the anti-war movement.

Two days earlier, on May 2, National Guard troops were called to Kent to suppress students rioting in protest of the Vietnam War and the U.S. invasion of Cambodia. The next day, scattered protests were dispersed by tear gas, and on May 4 class resumed at Kent State University. By noon that day, despite a ban on rallies, some 2,000 people had assembled on the campus. National Guard troops arrived and ordered the crowd to disperse, fired tear gas, and advanced against the students with bayonets fixed on their rifles. Some of the protesters, refusing to yield, responded by throwing rocks and verbally taunting the troops.

READ MORE: Kent State Shootings: A Timeline of the Tragedy

Minutes later, without firing a warning shot, the Guardsmen discharged more than 60 rounds toward a group of demonstrators in a nearby parking lot, killing four and wounding nine. The closest casualty was 20 yards away, and the farthest was almost 250 yards away. After a period of disbelief, shock, and attempts at first aid, angry students gathered on a nearby slope and were again ordered to move by the Guardsmen. Faculty members were able to convince the group to disperse, and further bloodshed was prevented.

The shootings led to protests on college campuses across the country. Photographs of the massacre became enduring images of the anti-war movement. In 1974, at the end of a criminal investigation, a federal court dropped all charges levied against eight Ohio National Guardsmen for their role in the Kent State students’ deaths.

I think you need to read up about the May 4, 1970 Kent State shooting incident where members of the Ohio National Guard opened fire on a crowd gathered to protest the Vietnam War.
