... it turns out the idea that since most EV owners do not have to pay for gas they are are not contributing to the maintenance of the highways they use is not true.

Many states and provinces charge EV owners an additional fee when it comes time to register their cars usually every two years. The special EV fee ranges from $50.00 to $225.00 per year plus the standard cost of vehicle registration.

Edit: Wednesday, it was $6.71...

Here in Alberta, Canada where I live gas is $1.86 per liter. There are 4 liters in 1 gallon. By my math that makes a gallon of gas worth $7.44

The contract was awarded to the highest bidders in a competitively bid process and Hunter Biden was many steps removed from the U.S. trading arm of the Chinese firm.

...over 70% of the Strategic Petroleum Oil Reserve (SPR) made available for export went to Europe to support the Ukrainian war. China and several other countries got the remaining oil sold to the highest bidder. It is called capitalism and will will help restock the SPR in the future.

But it was not sold by DOE on the open market at market rates as authorized by the Naval Petroleum Production Act. If it had been it would stayed in the states where the reserve fields are located.
