Going to make the EV cars even more expensive for the vast majority of consumers .

... simply not true! In some car segments, EVs are already priced on par with new gas burning cars, when the gov't rebates up to $7,500.00 are factored in.

Why do you think that both GM and Ford have declared that why are all in on EVs now?

I recently purchased a $2,800.00 Raleigh electric bike on sale for $2,000.00 plus a $80.00 instore future credit. I financed the purchase on a $84.00 month x 24, 0% interest payment plan. Plus, I will receive a $500.00 gov't eBike rebate direct deposit into my bank account this week.

I have had the eBike for a week and have already put 54 km on it.

This is just one small reason why President Biden's Inflation Act of 2022 will help so many Americans while making the largest step ever in American history to combat climate change.

The difference from back then to now is government using billions and billions of tax payer dollars to FORCE this change on us weather we want it or not. There is no difference. The interstate system cost billions and was built in order to promote the use of cars.

... my wife's gas powered Honda Civic burst into flames while unattended in the driveway. With millions of cars on the road, occasionally cars catch fire on their own. That is what insurance is for. What is your point? The issue is not unique to electric vehicles.

... American drivers are changing their habits and driving less and driving smarter. Demand for gasoline has fallen to levels last seen in the early days of CVID lockdown restrictions.

Gas prices have been declining since mid-June as demand has fallen to levels not seen since the early days of the pandemic, according to AAA.

Prices have continuously declined since June 14, when the average price hit a record high of $5.01 per gallon in the U.S.

On Thursday, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline dropped eight cents to $4.13.
New data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) shows that gas demand dropped from 9.25 million barrels per day to 8.54 million per day last week.
That's 1.24 million barrels per day lower than last year and "in line with demand at the end of July 2020," when there were widespread virus-related restrictions and fewer people were hitting the road, according to AAA.

"Despite the steady decrease in pump prices, drivers appear to still be altering their driving habits to contend with higher-than-usual prices," AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross told FOX Business on Thursday.

The latest demand figures bolster a recent AAA survey that revealed 64% of drivers had changed their driving habits or lifestyle since March to offset the high prices at the pump.

... driving those big, heavy SUVs and pickup trucks does not look so smart when gas prices are high.
