This is interesting. We got ourselves into a mess with bio technology. This is a serious step if what they claim is true. Could generate real effective medicines from this. But like recent history have shown us the powers to be would probably just monetize, weaponize and capitalize on this.WhateverComment

What gets to me it that nitrogen pollution that does not seem anywhere as serious as this DHMO issue is being used to gain property. First the Netherlands and India now Canada.
It would be a devastating blow on industry to try and ban it now.
Thanks for informing me about this. Reminds me of formaldehyde."Enjoy every sandwich."

Re: Gardens, Food and Food supply issues.
Its the nitrogen oxide gas and ammonia that would be the possible concern. It dissolves into water evaporates and comes down in raindrops. It is a concern just handled poorly.

Re: Gardens, Food and Food supply issues.
If I recall from my physics class, the nitrogen molecule is heaver than the Oxygen molecule hence explaining the ratio. And, one might argue the fact but there is less oxygen molecules at higher altitudes, but this is due to the fact that there is less air pressure to "push" the oxygen molecules together.Last edited by copiertec; 08-10-2022, 03:30 PM.Comment

Re: Gardens, Food and Food supply issues.
If the fertilizer is used in just the right amount all of it gets used. It is the overuse that leads to leaching nitrogen pollutants into water runoff. Over marketing and bad implementation is the bigger problem.

Re: Gardens, Food and Food supply issues.
There are also nitrogen fixing plant alternatives to use instead of commercial fertilizers for a small scale production farms, most bean crops, peanuts, etc. are used as cover crops to provide nitrogen to the soil. However, I'm not sure of their use for large farm long term applications, but with the recent "attacks/bans" on commercial synthetic fertilizers I am confident that we will see more of these "alternative" nitrogen fixing plants applied to these applications. And, the plus side to these natural nitrogen fixing plants is there is no "overuse" and leaching issues. I heard in Florida they are attributing Red Tide to an overuse of commercial fertilizers as a possible contributor.Comment

That is good to know that planting peanuts, peas or beans mixed with other crops would be beneficial in more than one way. Fixing nitrogen and feeding other plants at the same time. I am learning more about companion planing.WhateverComment

So the best research for this time could be the cultivation and proper use of Rhizobium bacteria?
