    Are republicans winning?

I can't believe I'm about to say this but I think republicans are winning. Before you laugh, hear me out, please.

We won the long fight against abortion. I never thought we'd win that fight. Thank you Donald J. Trump.

We're in firm control of the supreme court and they're about to overturn raced based college admissions. Thank you Donald J. Trump.

Green Energy is failing to deliver and the majority of voters want to slow down on it. They want cheap gas again.

We're about to win both the house and senate.

We're seen as the party that can bring crime under control.

The list is long and we're not winning on every issue, but not bad.

    Re: Are republicans winning?

It's not necessarily republicans that are winning, but common sense. There are plenty of republicans that are closer to democrat in thought and action, and some democrats that are closer to what we once considered a republican (JFK would now be considered a moderate republican by his policies). People are tired of the identity politics, tired of the programs that divide, tired of the policies that have failed time and time again. This is what you're seeing. What I would prefer to see is the death of political parties and have the candidates run strictly on their policies. Take the Ds and the Rs off the ballots completely, make people think about who they vote for rather than just voting for a party.

I agree with all of that, David. Every last word. To be honest, I don't consider myself to be a republican.

A country where a political party controls the courts is a country in deep shit.

Also, a country where the politicians want religion to have a controlling interest is not good either. And that's where the current batch of republican politicians want to take it.

A country where the courts don't follow the founding documents is in far deeper shit, that's what the left is demanding, an activist court that ignores the constitution. The conservatives that currently make up the majority are catching flak because they use the constitution (for the most part) as their guide in making decisions.

Democrats see our constitution as an obstacle to be overcome. Shredded even.

No matter what you were taught in Canada, the United States was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. The founders were, to a man, Christians, Jews or deists, mostly Christians. There is also nothing in our constitution calling for separation of church and state, contrary to popular belief, that statement came from a letter from Jefferson to the Danbury Baptist Association when they were concerned that there would be a national religion. At the time several states had official state religions, a situation that was considered normal and, to some, even desirable. There is also no call at this time to require everyone to become religious, although it would be nice if religions would not be targeted by the government for lawsuits concerning things like health care. Please get your facts straight before you make claims like this.

Please explain which facts I got wrong.
A state where religion, no matter which brand of religion, has a controlling interest is bad. Full stop.
Also, the current batch of republican politicians want religion, to be specific, catholic/ christian to have control.
                  Both those statements are true.

Only when the courts make their decisions based on politics.

Especially when that religion is Atheism or or like Canada, Communism.

Any religion. It doesn't matter which brand.
Religion has no place is government.
