Yep, you can't cut (lose fat) and bulk (gain muscle) at the same time. It's just not feasible. I've done this before and in my opinion, a person is better off losing the weight as fast as possible because no one want to go thru that for any longer than they have to. That's just my opinion. Then once the weight is lost, the person needs to eat a lot of calories ( high protein ) in order to add muscle. But again, they will gain some fat and need to "cut" again to lose any added fat if they want to be ripped.
