The Gov't of Nova Scotia just announced the creation of three deep water wind farm sites off the coast. At first a 5 GW and eventually a 60 GW wind farms will rise from the ocean floor to generate clean electricity. A 60 GW windffarm could supply 25% of Canada's total electrical needs. The windfarms should come online by 2030.

A tender process will soon follow and the succesful bidder will take on all the costs to construct the site and bring the energy to shore. In return the successful bidder will get a forever annuity on the revenue generated.

There is an insatiable demand for more electricty and Nova Scotia has the best and most consistent offshore winds in the world.

Under Trump, the USA has taken a major step backwards in developing offshore wind energy. President Biden had big plans to develop ofshore windfarms but Trump killed it. All this means is that the big international money and know how in the wind farm industry went elsewhere and those skills and resources are coming to Nova Scotia.

Right now in many parts of the USA new manufacturing facilities are being shelved because the local communities do not have the electricity to spare. Nearby Maine, USA is desperate for more electrical generation sites.

Thanks Trump, your narrow mind is going to put many millions into the Nova Scotia economy for decades to come servicing the American economy.

Hopefully they keep US companies from bidding on this project.

.... USA companies do not have the real world experience to construct and manage deep sea offshore wind farms. The successful bidder will likely be an operator from the North Sea.

Note that all of the steel to build this giant wind farm and most of the labour will be Canadian.

The port of Halifax, Nova Scotia will be a key land based staging area for this mega project.

Isn't there evidence that offshore windfarms are causing the deaths of large sea creatures? I've heard the deaths of whales go up exponentially around them.

Science isn't conclusive (as usual nowadays) but a group separate from any bias of energy companies is claiming it is causing deaths.

I think nuclear including the new mini plants and liquid salt tech is the future. The new tech eliminates the already overblown concerns of the previous generation technology.

Oh please. All of Canada is completely repulsed by trumpty dumpty. The Albertans have mastered the art of being victimised. I'm fact, they've taken it to an entire new level.
You could give them exactly what they want, and they would still whine about it. I'm not talking about all Albertans, but there are a vocal minority who make a point of being unhappy

BTW, we're doing okay. Job numbers are steady, unemployment rate is steady, economy is steady.

They elected Carney because he would supposedly get tough with Trump and get him to back down. Wrong. Just another chump. Trump means business and really dislikes Canada.

Carney is being tough with trumpty dumpty. He isn't cowering to trumpty dumpty's bluster. He, unlike some other world leaders, knows trumpty dumpty is stupid. There will either be a deal, or there won't.

Are you trying to pretend that Trump's tariffs on Canada won't hurt your country? Thus far, the new guy is the same as the old guy. Nothing to show for all the tough talk. LOL.

It's you trying to pretend that tariffs aren't a tax on the US population. If you choose to tax something you need, it doesn't affect us as much as you hope. Yes, it will affect us a little at the beginning, but we can sell our products to anyone. All it will take is opening up other markets. That will take some time, but it can be done.
