"Democrats have never allowed the ceiling to get close to being breached"
Yup. This brings to mind the question, if your sewer backs up into your house (the national debt), do you raise the ceiling to allow more shit (dem plan) or do you fix the sewer and drain the shit out? I know what my choice would be, but I'm not a democrat.Comment

This would be an awesome argument if the Republicans hadn't recently raised the debt ceiling three separate times when trumpy was pres.Comment

Re: Republicans want to crash the economy
A far better idea would be to reduce spending, in particular foreign aid (especially to countries that don't like us much, giving them money won't change that). Also, research Cloward-Piven, it is happening in real time and most are too blind to see (or on board with it and ashamed to admit that).
What is at risk is Social Security payments to millions of low income people who need this money to pay for their rent and food. Funding for Veterans is also put at risk.
The Republicans need to put out a written budget now and not talk about vague idealisms.Comment

Sounds like you're upset that there are finally people in congress that are willing to do the right thing.Comment

... more deflection into complex topics that Congress does not have time to debate considering a potential June 01 deadline.

Re: Republicans want to crash the economy
Why is it SS and Veterans money at risk rather than foreign aid? Don't tell me that the left suddenly cares about vets, many of them consider vets to be a threat to.... something. And they support SS simply for the voting block, it's due to the left that SS is no longer separately funded and not subject to this argument.

Re: Republicans want to crash the economy
Hahahahahaha. Why on earth would I be upset? You should be the one that is upset. You are being duped by the exact same politicians who raised the debt ceiling three separate times when trumpy was pres. Now they are lying to you about why they shouldn't raise the debt ceiling. And they know full well that you, and the other sheep, will back them up.Comment

... the Republican Congress needs to publish a budget or else they do not deserve to be at the table.
Again you are trying to deflect the serious of this issue onto a conversation about foreign aid that can be discussed at a later date.
It is irresponsible for the Republicans to be playing politics with the global economy and the full faith and credit of the USA four weeks before a potential first ever default in US history.
There is a Plan C called HR626 to get around the Republican debt limit problem if only a few fiscally responsible Republican congress people can be convinced to vote with the Democrats.Last edited by SalesServiceGuy; 05-03-2023, 05:59 PM.Comment
