    Another day, another bank

I can understand banks being security consience about outside people/vendors coming in to work on things. Sometimes though it just pisses me off. Today I'm in to fix a copier. He gets my name, name of business, address, phone, etc. Finally he says I will need to see your drivers license or pictured ID. I told him I didn't have it on me, it's in the car. Here's my business card with picture will that do? Bank supervisor was listening in and said no we will need your license. So I go out to the car, get it, and lay it in front of him. I said you can look at it and that's all, you may not copy it or fill in any details on your form. Then I looked at the supervisor and told her I was not comfortable with my private info being put out in the wild. You called for service to my employer. My shirt has employers name embroidered, you can see the company vehicle with all it's signage, you have my business card. What more do you need? Then finally they let me clean the ink off the scanning slit glass.

I get tired of hotels trying to do the same. So many try to copy license and credit cards. I tell them you may swipe my credit card and leave it open for incidentals, you may look at my license to verify face to name. But that's all, do not copy anything on a scanner or copier.

    What do you guys do?

    Re: Another day, another bank

About two years ago in the worst part of the Covid19, one of our architectural customers had a health survey app that they wanted me to load onto my phone. They said I absolutely could not enter the building without loading this software to my phone.

That was fine with me. I didn't really want to enter their building that badly, and I absolutely was not loading some unknown software to my phone under any circumstances. I waited in the parking lot for 1/2 hour then called back. I asked if they had changed their mind about letting me fix their machine. They had changed their mind. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I do a lot of work at casinos also. I've been servicing one for 25 years now. I know everyone there and they know me. Every now and then I get a newbie security person who is trying to make a big show behind the dime-store badge they have. This newbie went through my tools, saw my vacuum and asked what it is. He told me to open it and asked about the filter. Then he proceeded to tell me to empty the filter so he could check it for weapons. I took the filter out, handed it to him and said you empty it, I need a good laugh today, and don't expect me to clean up your mess either. He handed it right back.

Funny, same thing happened to me. Except mine was a medical facility. They also had a computer at the door that vendors needed to check in to. So the first time on the computer, I filled out the online form. Two weeks later I get a bill for $400 if I wanted to continue servicing at the facility as they contract with the software provider who does a background check on all vendor employees. I passed the bill onto my service mgr. Wish I could have been a mouse in the corner when my boss spoke with the medical facility mgmt. No $400 paid and no hassle beyond that day.

What about your driver's license? Heard about hawaii fake id what do you think? Does it make sense to buy one there? Your friend's situation involved a medical facility where the salespeople had to register on a computer. They filled out an online form, but were later billed $400 for continued care at the facility. The facility contracted with a software vendor who did background checks on the vendor's employees. However, your friend passed the bill on to his care manager, who presumably resolved the issue with the facility management, which resulted in the bill not being paid and no further hassle.
          Nice summary. =^..^=
