Does ANYONE make a good stand alone fax anymore? Most of the units I see today are CRAP!

I'm not sure what Canon has out there right now but the LC710 and 3175 are fantastic faxes. They use an HP printer for the body and are reasonable to work on. Plus the bonus of only having 1 cartridge for toner and drum. That is always a favorable point in my opinion.
We are a Sharp dealership but have issues with the stand alone faxes by Sharp. Much prefer the Canon faxes. -

I have to agree with bilyan. The 10 year old Canons are better than just about anything out today. Second choice: the small Samsung MFPs SCX-3175FN or SCX-4725FN.If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I think the reason you are seeing "crap" is that fax technology is a dying technology and I think the manufacturers are trying to encourage people to go to alternate communications means.
Most of Konica Minolta's new generation fax machines are "ok" but nowhere near as good as many of our MFP variants, including the C10 and C20 machines which are better at faxing than being colour photocopiers.
The added benefit to the colour MFPs is the latest bunch can send and recieve colour fax.

Actually, Ricoh Faxes are very good - problem is they don't make a cheap fax, and that's what everybody wants, so they rebranded somebody else's crap (most notably Teco) and ruined their reputation.73 DE W5SSJComment
