OMD-227
Got back from a fly in gold mine in Northern Ontario on Wednesday night.
-40c plus wind chill.
1km walk from camp to mine site.
2 days. 20 machines (8 colour).
Attached is a zipped Google Earth .kmz file of the location.
I have driven there 3 times in the winter. 10 hours from Thunder Bay. 3 of that on bush roads.
Cancun sounds nice about now.....

Hah, when you switch from satellite to map on google there are not even any labeled roads. Yeah, that's pretty rough! Looks like fun to me though, where do you sign up? Kinda like Ice Road Copier Techs or something...I will not give you service manuals or firmware.Comment

Yeah, roads are a little scarce in our area. What you see are logging roads which are better than the paved road from Pickle Lake down. That whole area is usually serviced from another branch. They have a couple of planes and the pilots are tech's. We service that mine as they have charters that are paid for by the mine. 9 seat Pilatus and 18 seat Beachcraft. Lap'o'Luxury. We go up the first Tuesday every month for 2 days. Have to be at the airport for 5:30am and get home about 9pm. Good overtime...Kittens give Morbo gas.

Google MapsIf you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I'm tired of freezing my butt off - Mississippi saw over 72 hours below freezing - we're just not set up to deal with that.
So much for global warming.
Ever notice when Al Gore gives a speech about polar ice caps melting its always in the middle of a frickin blizzard. And he never mentions the ice caps have also been shrinking on Mars. Hmmm... definately man made there. Makes you wonder how much money he's making off this.73 DE W5SSJComment

Middle of December the one day it was around -30C and the wind made it around -45C. Those days are special, some times the van is slow to start up even when the block heater is plugged in. On those days the work jacket is hung up and the big Tough Duck outdoor work jacket comes out and on short calls the van just gets left running. You get used to it after a while.Evil will always triumph because good is dumb.Comment

You make me sick. Last night was the first time this year the temp didn't drop (or stay) below freezing - a lot of my accounts have been closed for days because of all the water main breaks. We can't handle that kind of cold down here73 DE W5SSJComment
