It's a great idea hermann, but it has been talked to death, and hasn't really been seriously considered.

Personally, I think the financial concerns of the advertisers may be the sticking point.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

To be honest I don't think that's really necessary. The way the forum works right now helps to filter out the undesired members - they ask for help and, either getting it or (most commonly) not, they go away, since they never intended to stay in the first place.

Even if there's such a barrier put in place, I hope it only affects the hability to post and not the read-only hability - it's very helpful since I use google to find in the forums (the internal search engine is crap since the last major update), and it helps to attract people to the forums - not to mention the site's ads would lose a lot IMHO if the blockade was complete.

whether we help each other as techs or help a end user its all good
our living depends on the reliabilty of our machines and the reputation they incurr
afterall its a skilled job and this will always limit the point at where we can help end users

the end user is only really like doing a telephone fix

this site works fine as it is and has potential o be a great site with the right attitude

Have you EVER shared something? The only posts you write are about getting free service manuals! This has nothing to do with sharing knowledge! It has something to do with begging....

Notice his 413 posts and the big "0" for rep power.

Kinda says it all, doesn't it?
