I used to be a big fan of the one knee steering method when I was a puppy, until one day I was doing about 60mph down the motorway whilst stuffing a Big Mac down my throat, so tasty was it in fact that I failed to notice the copper on a motorbike right alongside me about 2 foot away. Luckily for me he was on a call so he just gave me an angry scowl, gestured at me to put the burger down, then sped off. A lucky escape, so I figured I might not be so lucky next time and the bastards will take some money off me and put points on my license, so I stick to something that doesn't need 2 hands to eat it these days if I can.

Sorry, but there isn't a service call so important that it won't wait for 20 or 30 minutes whether I eat or not I take a break. Of course I was young and foolish once too, not so much anymore.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

My work gives the tech's "30 minutes" to eat. But it seems everyone here brings in there lunch. I try and snag something in between calls. As we bascily get paid for the more calls we make. My last company gave me an hour which was amazing. Had time to eat and relax for a bit.

Our working ours are 9:00-12:30 and 14:00-18:30, which basically means we have 1:30h for lunch. Most of the times I use them for lunch a relax a bit before heading back to work, although there are days where I prefer to get some work done.

If "down" calls are up I try to take them with a roll thru lunch. Many customers appreciate service during the lunch hours when the equipment is more idle. I like having time in the bank for early departure to help beat the traffic home. If down calls are still up I lose the time and it resets the next day.

Normally eat 1 handed whilst driving somewhere.

Or no handed if its a big pizza

I dont get paid for my lunch and I always take an hour. My company insists we take it though. I think more of a law thing than anything else.
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

1 hour lunch is manatory. State regs and helps keep me somewhat sane. If I could skip on somedays to leave early or the like, sure I would. But the boss says take lunch or he gets in trouble with the state when the audit.

Funny you ask, just had to leave my job because they expected me to work through an unpaid lunch hour and stay an hour late with no compensation at an account that was an hour and a half away from my house and my wife works nights so I have to be home to watch the kids. It worked out though, I can collect unemployment because they won't dare tell that story to the unemployment people.

We are allowed an unpaid hour for lunch but have been discouraged from taking it to "keep our numbers up".
