    Do real men really squint.

Many years ago someone published a book called "Real men don't eat quiche". One pasage read "Real men don't wear sunglasses, they squint". Well as I was at the flea market searching for military grade field glasses that quote popped into my head. I really need sunglasses, but I am really tuff on stuff I own. I can destroy a pair of cheap sunglasses in a week. This Army stuff I buy is tuff. They can take a 16 gauge shotgun blast from 6 feet away. This stuff sells online for $70 to $100 a pair and I can get unused pairs for $10 at the flea market. Those are your tax dollars saving me money. I can still mess these up in a couple of months, so I buy in bulk if I can. I found 3 pair today. For those of you wondering, you can get everything at a flea market outside an Army base. Plenty of uniforms, and today one guy had cases of live ammo for assault rifles.

Anyway, do you use sunglasses ,and do you buy the cheap ones or the name brands. How long does it take for you to loose or sit on them. I keep mine strapped to my head with the elastic strap that they come with.

I'm a long-time squinter. I've never worn sunglasses, never will.
The closest I get to eye protection is a broad brimmed hat, tipped a little to shade the direct sun.

Are you prepared to field test that shotgun blast to the face? Not me.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Not me either. It just means they are strong enough to be sat on or wind up under my tools. They also make great safety glasses for running the bushwhacker, or weed eater, in the yard. Anything I use on a regular basis has to be tuff. I paid $165 for a toolcase with out any tools. It is a Pelican, also like the Army uses, because I was busting up the cheaper tech cases at a rate of about 1 a year. I have had the Pelican for 4 years now. I saw an ad for them showing a truck running over one and it not breaking. That is something I might actually do. I had my tailgate come open one time and the case fell out on the highway. Since my company changed the dress code, I am going broke replacing slacks I bust the knees out of.

I've had 5 or 6 of the cheapie $59 to $99 cases. Broken piano hinges, broken feet, broken latches, broken handles, chemical damage ... I think the average life was 2 years.

The last one I bought was 7 years ago, and I haven't had to fix anything yet. My only real complaint isn't so much about the case as it is about my choice. Don't buy the 10 1/2" deep case unless you are an aspiring body builder. It averages 38 lbs. when loaded.

I live in Queensland, Australia. Before that I lived in Darwin, in the Northern Territory. Before that I lived in Pensacola Florida. With that piddly little ball of light you call a sun over there, you might be able to live without sun glasses, here you wear them if you have brains. A friend of mine just had an eye removed because of a melanoma in the eye. I buy middle price ones because I will lose them within 18 months, or damage them 'cause I'm not very good at looking after them. Real men will eat quiche, because they don't give a s@#t what you think of them.

Yes they squint like Clint...but they also know when to cover up like Steve.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

Oakley brand plastic frames for a while...until I bought my 1st pair of polarized wire frame Ray-Bans, now there is no going back. My latest is a set of RB3386 in gray/green, best pair yet. Still have all 3 sets of Ray Bans and only 1 pair of Oakleys left (broken frames)

Can't drive without sunglasses any longer, if the damn sun would ever shine that is.

Thats what I was talking about. Those Army field glasses are the best. Hell that nylon strap is half the value. Government uses 4 or 5 different brands. I have seen a CIF list that prices them from $70 to $90.

yeah...they are the Wiley X's...some of the best sunglasses you can get for durability and such...trust me every gunner on a convoy in Iraq was handed a pair before we started our mission because those were the best for the sand and wind we dealt with over there....

I always wear sunglasses. I get the cheapo kind at the gas station where I am usually also getting my lunch.I keep my laptop in my bag with the battery removed. That lil brick weighs a lot!
