[Annoying] my toner vacuum is too loud

i hate having to turn on my vacuum on site infront of lots of customers that are on the phone, sometimes i have to wait till they get off the phone.

my vacuum is a 3m black vacuum. mine especially is the loudest from all the techs and i hate it. i may consider carrying ear defenders.

i hope one day in the future thare will be a silent toner vacuum.

what do you think of your vacuum??

It depends on what you want. I have probably the loudest vac at our office as well. But it also works the best. I know how you feel about turning the thing on in the middle of a busy office with people on the phone. In those cases, I try to warn the closest people, and make it quick.

On the other hand, when you've got someone staring over your shoulder, or asking you a lot of questions when you're trying to concentrate... well, I'll just say I do my best to make sure the device is very clean.

Yes, they make noise. But you can't remove toner just by using a dry cloth.

If you can get the orange Chicopee brand Stretch'nDust cloths, they work really good with toner; I would even leave a couple of cloths with the customer for small toner spills.

you can ware hearing protection but all vacs are loud and you cant get around that.

Only one way to properly clean and that is with a vac, look at it this way...

I have certain customers that I wait until they are on the phone then start up the vac.

Re: my toner vacuum is too loud

                I remember quite clearly ...
I was doing a PM, vacuuming away, when over the din I hear the department manager screaming at me over the sound of the vacuum.

I turn off the vacuum, and he continues to scream about how he can't run his department with all this noise ... blah, blah, blah. I ask him when a good time would be for me to finish? He says after 5:00 when the office is closed. The other 20 people in the room are looking at me like, what will he do?

After some thought, I pack up my tools. (The machine is still apart on a table.) I tell him I'll make an appointment to finish up later.

Before I make it to the front of the building one of the front office managers stops me, and leads me back. She says there was a little misunderstanding, and that now would be a good time to finish. The jerk didn't have much to say to me after that. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I give my warning,I then go to the effort of closing peoples doors, then I fire away.

They can make quiet vacuums, but research says that people associate noise with power, therefore no body would buy a vacuum that was quiet.

I agree with pjbdm, I give them a warning first. Usually the person who's going to sign the paperwork. If I know the office is large, I try to schedule for later in the day or move the machine into another room. Vacuuming the machine was always part of the contract so they knew ahead of time it was going to happen.

Yes, Give them warning and work as quickly as you can.

I made up a foot pedal out of some old copier parts so I could pulse it on and off quickly, hardly use it. I just let er rip. Listen for the slamming doors.

I have this one machine right near a multi multi line phone system that never stops ringing, thats a treat.

I used to love doing this when I worked for Canon ,in the big fed govt offices, pissed off a boardroom full of overpaid bigwigs at Agriculture Canada once, the CLC was right besides the boardroom, they were looking at me like I interupted the most important conference in the world lol!
