Sharp techs will like this one. Went to an MX4101 today with an external finisher. I was looking for a squeak and pulled out the passthrough drawer to check the rollers in it. Someone apparently wanting to be helpful had loaded the machine with paper and had loaded about 75-100 sheets in the passthrough unit. I couldn't believe it hadn't caused any problems.

Yep - Canon NP6035 the duplex draw was right next to a large capacity draw on an optional pedestal unit. We were always having dozy idiots trying to load paper in the wrong area!Comment

Re: New low in customer ignorance.
It's either that or they put paper side by side in the cassette, thinking the machine will slide everything over to the feed section.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".Comment

Re: New low in customer ignorance.
I think that the side by side paper loading is so they don't have to walk 3 feet to the cabinet and remove the paper from the wrapper. They open the tray, see it's out and move the paper from the left to the right. Manufacturers should just make a place to put paper there when the tray is set to letter so clients can do what they're going to do without creating a jam issue in the tray.Comment

The day after we installed our first MX753, I got a call for paper not pulling from trays. When I arrived, the paper was loaded on the wrong side of the guides.
After speaking to the customer, I found out the salesperson/trainer told them to put it there not thinking this particular machine was left side fed! Not only the customers in my neck of the woods.
Panasonic 80xx series, tray 3 + 4 have screw down guides. I cannot tell you how many couplings, gears, and lift arms I have had to replace due to customers storing paper in them. They throw the paper in, no rear stack guide of course, the tray lifts and the stack shifts back. The upper limit sensor never gets activated and the lift motor keeps pushing until it destroys everything.
Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!Comment

Re: New low in customer ignorance.
Our own office personnel did this on a Copystar PF-660 LCT. They loaded 6000 sheets to a 3000 sheet deck. As the paper was gradually used off the left side of the stack the paper on the right side also raised until it hit the metal guides. It kept lifting, lifting, lifting, then BANG! Both lift cables broke and the stack dropped, the mounting brackets are deformed, and the guide are bent up.
Our own employees ... <sigh>
=^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
