    XP sp1 and sp2

I'm in dire need of 32bit xp service pack 1 and 2. Can anybody give me a hand, or point me in the right direction? I just realized neither are supported anymore.

SP2 : Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - Windows XP Service Pack 2 for IT Professionals and Developers

Couldn't find SP1 either. Maybe it's too old. All the things in SP1 are also included in SP2.

      Might I ask what's wrong with SP3?

SP 1 and 2 have the netframework software required to download SP3. My version of XP is really old, no service packs on the disk. I hate to, but I have a Vista OS I could load. For what I'm going to use the system for, it should be sufficient. Thanks for the replies.

          Re: XP sp1 and sp2

Back when XP sp3 just came out, I powered up the laptop one day, and could not print to any of the Samsung printers.

I called Samsung tech support. They told me that the current line of printers are not compatible with sp3. My only option was to downgrade to sp2. I asked the helpful person what I was supposed to tell the rest of the Samsung users that automatically accepted updates to sp3, and would soon be calling me, unable to print. He didn't have any suggestions.

When those people called me I advised them to call the help line.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Indeed, I've used it to replace a lost OEM install CD for XP home.

As I recall, when you try to install SP3 from Micro$oft, it will detect your current version, and will install SP2 for you if needed.

BTW... It takes much longer to do the SP2 update than it does SP3.

That's quite a good point actually, does Windows update not install what's needed automatically?

I decided to make XP work, to heck with Vista. I went to this site and downloaded SP2, it installed without needing to connect to microsoft. I found SP3 somewhere online, and it was a good file. I am good to go now with all updates and drivers installed. I will be making a disk with SP2 and SP3 on it to avoid this kind of hassle the next time I have to load this OS. I figure I can squeeze another year or two out of it before going to win7. Thanks for all the advice, guys. It was most helpful.

It appears to me they are dropping full support for XP. It was inevitable.
