    uh..Red Rubber grease?

All the new KM machines now have red grease on the gearings... I've been trying to find out what it is so I could use it on the older machine, and to shut my ...m@n@g3r up.

Plastics gears dont need lube, but they certainly need cooling agent and use some noise/vibration reduction.

so far, the only grease the matches description is the "red rubber grease", its got high temp resistance rating, and easy on the rubber. But, this is for automotive brake system application.

is there anything else that's red, and copier friendly? Or, what's the grease that you use? White lithium is no good...that one got banned.

    Tri-Flow Red Grease TFBP20030

A quick search leads me to believe that this "red" grease is a vegetable based red lithium grease that is supposed to be environmentally friendly. I don't believe that there is anything particularly glorious about it as properties go. I'll continue to use IBM-23 and Canon Silicone Clutch Grease as long as I have supplies of them. I use white lithium on cams, and plastic/metal surfaces that must slide. Delrin gears I usually leave dry, because they'll usually collect less grit and dirt. The links above are for "Red Lithium Grease". Maybe what you want? I don't know. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

Gotta use grease on a Ricoh MPC 3500 fuser rebuild, or you'll be doing it again shortly.

Uh...Manufacturer use it on new machines... Old machine's dried out, why shouldnt I use it? You seen fuser and associated gearing flaking off due to heat? you need grease.

Grease isnt just a lube agent, its there to "cool" the contact surface, or to take away heat. reduce wear and tear, which results in more precise gear bite, more accurate paper timing, more stable operation.

Noisy machine is one more reason they'll go for a competing brand. In this day and age, i do whatever I can to save the image of MY machines.

I'm not trying too hard Mr.

                      what Canon/Toshiba/KM uses

Its a bit overkill for plastic gearing. One could always get them grease from Hobby shops(RC cars and what have you).

There are similar spec of grease out on the market for much cheaper(Pennzoil 707L)...this Molykote thing is $50 from PrecisionRoller... no thank you.

Having said so, some research said typical lithium base grease may have softening effect on plastic components. I wonder if that's true.

                      edit: cheaper alternative from Molykote
