    Fast tracked to early retirement...........

Or should I say fired. I visit a local shipping store to send out a package. While waiting my turn in line I noticed a copier tech working on a machine. The female manager in this place is standing over the poor bastard berating him. This goes on for at least 15 minutes. The tech finally had enough and stood up and said the following........

lady, just that you have sand stuck in your clit, does not give you reason to treat me or anyone else like shit! She just stood there speechless before running off to the back of the store.

Im sure this guy lost his job.

Well there is a limit to insult anyone can take. The manager didn't stop bitching for more than 15minutes and that too in front of everyone. I guess this is the reason he got ticked off and said things which i guess will be regretting now.

Ive always had a unique way of just letting things roll off my shoulders. No matter what I keep my cool and show absolutely no emotion. Kill'em with kindness I always say.....rumor went around years ago amongst my fellow techs, that I caused somebody to have a nervous breakdown because I wouldn't snap back.

Only time I remember ever telling somebody off was a long time ago. I asked a female customer "who lit the fuse on your tampon" in front of all her people. Whats wierd is we are now friends and drinking buddies.

I'd have just packed my bag and walked out.

I have to agree what was said was totally inappropriate...

I have to agree with Shadow1, pack up tool kit and walk out, just let her keep on ranting and raving, let the service manager take care of it, thats what he is there for, I have one time called my service manager and handed my phone to the cust who was raving, shut her up quick.
But not worth it to pop off and say something like that, all though we all would like to.

Best to just let it slide. Or like Shadow1 says, pack up and leave. Let the service manager kiss ass and calm them down.

Knew a tech that put a recorder in his tool bag to prove what the customer was saying.

As a service manager, I like to back my techs. If a customer is berating my tech, they need a good reason. If the cause is not fixing it correctly the 6 times, that would be my problem and she needs to call me. If she has never placed a service call, and is berating him, then it is her fault and she will know it by time I'm thru with her. If my tech is in the right, and she has no good reason for this, Then It's the sales guys problem, because I'm backing my tech. He probably just will not be dispatched there for a while.

Had a man giving me a hard time one day and demanded to speak to the owner.
I spun around in a 360 and asked if I could help him.
Made him drop his jaw and walk away.
I couldn't stop laughing outside for 5 minutes.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

There's no excuse for the language. I'd certainly walk, but without a single syllable spoken. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Told a bitchy customer today, "Your confidence in me is overwhelming!"
I am Sorry, I have only been doing this for 30 years.
No charge for the call. It would have just caused more problems.

                        What he could have done...
"Ma'am, I need you to put your finger here and don't let it go or we are in real trouble. I need to run and get a special tool out of my truck." Tech goes outside, has a coffee comes back in 15 to 20 minutes and complains another tech must have stole his special tool. It would not make the woman any nicer, but the tech would have felt better.

Re: Fast tracked to early retirement...........

I have told a customer that I won't be spoken to like that, and that if she speaks to me properly then I'll fix the copier, or I'm leaving now. She started talking nicely.
Years ago I had a customer that was continually calling us out to make the machine do something it wasn't designed to do, so I pointed at my toolcase, asked her to try to find the magic wand, if she could find it, then I'd "fix" her machine. I never went into that customer for that "fault" again.

Then, there was the time that I really yelled at a customer, but, in my defense, I was suffering depression at the time and a couple of weeks later was signed off sick, and stayed off sick for 6 months. But anyway, I digress. I was in this little shop across London and it was getting late, the customer had broken and bent parts that were taking an age to repair, and being a small, local shop, there wasn't much room to move, boxes all around me. So I called my child-minder to let her know that I'd be late home. The customer was listening to my call (in which I hadn't said anything bad about them) and said "it's not our fault you're going to be late", well that was like a red rag to a bull. I stood up, forcefully threw my screwdriver across the shop and yelled "what do you mean it's not your fault! If you hadn't broken the bloody thing, I wouldn't be stuck in this God forsaken hole at this time of night", he looked at me, never said a word and went back behind the counter. When I left there I phoned my manager to warn him of the impending complaint that was, no doubt, coming. He thanked me for letting him know, said we'd deal with it when it came...it never did
