Nope, it's not just you. We're just gluttons for punishment, I guess.

Could be worse, you could be a shop tech.

Same pay and about 2.5 more hours of actual work.

Hey, I represent that - it sucks sometimes, but I'm not out in the rain or heat. I clock in at 8:00 and out at 5:00 - full 8 hrs, but...I'm pretty much on my own.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Here are some jobs I have had that were worse than a copier technician:
-3rd shift meat porter: Basically, the entire place is 45 degrees F and you have to scrub and wash everything down with a high pressure hose.
-The Slush Puppie man: Those frozen drinks that turn kids tongues red or blue. Sticky, sugar based toxic sludge pumped from a machine right into your children, yum. The bees love it though; free stings on a daily basis.
-Tour guide: at a nature preserve. Never could understand how nature need explaining let alone to a group of woman in their 90's, lacking the ability to walk or see very well.
-Xerox copier tech: there are not enough words in the English vocabulary to properly describe that horror.

No, you will never be rich if you look at just the monetary gain, however, you will have heaped riches upon you just by what you do daily-The field service position is a magnificent journey to new jobsites every day,new challenges that test your abilities, unknown territories and unfamiliar landscapes with new adventures at every turn-Each new customer is a unique puzzle that you are tasked with solving to the best of your ability, turning the angry shrew into a loyal subject and willing follower. Each letdown by your parts department is an opportunity to 'spin' the result to you customer in a way that makes you and your company the hero. You are independent, yet you still have a powerful backup- You are talented, yet every day you learn something new. You see new faces, different places, each and every day your mind is tested with a unique problem, each day you walk into an unfamiliar place with a smile on your face and an attitude that says 'this is a new employer'-You have the ability to walk straight into hellfire and stroll out as a hero, multiple times per day! You control each and every encounter, you 'make your day' multiple times-You cannot place a salary figure on what you experience daily-.

Imagine yourself at other jobs, look truthfully, and then decide where you want to be, where your riches are......................
