...and I was serious about Ricoh needing somebody to sort out the mess they've made of FSD. Years ago (before we bought IKON) the information was all there, easily accessible, and had very few SNAFU's in it. Now that somebody decided to "Fix it" with the "Tech Toolbox" some of the machines don't even have the shop manual on their menu page, and almost none of them have links to the Accessory Parts catalogs like they used to - you have to look to see that the 100 sheet finisher is an SRxxx which translates to a Bxxx product code, then dig through a folder full of PDF's. Typical idiot engineer who doesn't have to use his product, and they won't fix it - or unfix it - it's so bad at times some of us would pay a reasonable fee to have it working like it used to.
Well I actually work for an authorized Savin dealer and have for over 25 tears, we have never been offered the auto updates that Ricoh personel get. As for the mess that is FSD your right it's a cluster f*#k. and then they fixed the parts catalog with the 3D explorer yeah right.. As for your digs, well their your digs, as for me paul has done right by me for other brands of equipment.

Re: And Speaking of Thumb Drives.....

I didn't read all of the previous posts, so excuse me if I'm going to repeat anything:

      - Usb Thumb Drive - It's a great idea. The wear and tear wouldn't be a problem for me - If I ever buy one, I would make backup copies as soon as it arrives and then store it on a safe place and use the backups instead. Also, just because you send a 8GB thumb drive doesn't mean you need to fill all of the 8Gb of it. Wouldn't it be easier to let the customer decide what to include? Then just charge what the customer bought (let's say, 5$ for the pen and then the regular price for each included manual).

      - FTP Site - Also a great idea. It gives you the hability to create an account to each customer, with different permissions to each one. Furthermore, if some unauthorized access happens, you can check out which account did it (if a regular customer with regular access from the UK suddenly starts accessing it from China, then you can suspect it's that account).

If you need any help setting up your FTP server, feek free to talk to me.

      Cheers!

I didn't say he wasn't useful, just annoying at times... and I don't think you'd find many who would argue with that, including Paul.

I guess I know I can be a jerk at times, but I always come back with an apology, or I make up for it. I DO have my moods. And on those posts where it's obvious that the guy has the manual, I post because Google constantly scans this site, and the more links or mentions I have, the less I have to pay them and the higher my free rankings get. Also, Joe user who may have the same problem may not have the manual, but he needs one. But I've limited my postings lately. A lot of posts lately are for 'scanning to email' and connectivity problems which I know less than nothing about except that a good tech's experience will be the only thing that helps. I don't think a manual will be of much use in those situations.

Paul.........and have a Happy and a HEALTHY Christmas and New Year.

Well, yes and no. The service manual won't be much help (at least not on a Ricoh) but the Op-Guide (User's Manual) could be. Op-Guides are available from Ricoh-usa.com, so there's not much market for them, unless it's as a Value Add to the Shop Manual so the tech can have everything for a particular machine in one place. They're included on our FSD for that reason.

...And Merry Christmas - now everybody get off the computer an spend time with your family.

Be careful what you ask for. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
