    Your preferred Method Of Destruction?

This started as part of the Happy New Year thread (With this post: http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/ra...tml#post332449 ), and I didn't want to hijack it, so here's the deal - Pick your least favorite machine and your most favorite method of destroying it, put them together and tell us the details.

Death by fireworks was my original idea, but there's plenty of more imaginative people out there...

A very slow death, a death of a thousand cuts, let our worst tech work on it, guaranteed never too work again!
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

There's some video on youtube of a car hitting a copier (similar to a Konica 7075 or a Ricoh 2060) head on and then flipping over - the copier won. I kept wondering "What if, instead of a car, they used a truck? Or a semi? Better yet, how about a train?"

I've seen footage of a semi being hit by a train and there wasn't much of anything left. A train hitting a copier would leave even less but knowing Murphy's Law the train would probably be derailed by a gear or something equally tiny!!!

Any Konica Minolta machine would do, company I used to work for had a military base for a client, we all talked about taking one out to the firing range, and let it be used for artillery pratice, or take a 50 cal to it.

I wouldn't mind taking a B240 SAW to a few machines we still have in the field.

Many years ago work let all the techs take a sledge hammer to a machine. I took my turn and was surprised I did not get much enjoyment. When my customers say I need a bigger hammer I say I like dynamite better.

We did this a few years ago to a shit-box Mita Ai-4040. Watch till the end, the smoke comes out the second time we drop it!

I didn't see the customer standing at the end of the belt saying, "but I only need one copy" or "Is it going to be very long?"

Re: Your preferred Method Of Destruction?

Back in the Mita days we had a Xerox trade in. It must have been 8 feet long. We left it behind the building for 3 or 4 years. Whenever I was having a particularly frustrating day I would select an implement, usually the double bladed ax or the 8# sledge and take a few whacks.

After three attempts, I still could not break the copyboard glass. The ax bounced off and nearly took my fool head off. It took two tries with the cement block to break the glass.

It took that whole time to eventually divide the beast into two pieces small enough for three of us to boost up into the dumpster. The cut line happened to pass right through the lens unit and the drum (that may have not been accidental).

I must say that it was some of the best therapy I have ever experienced. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

So the rules are: select my most hated machine, and imagine destroying it in my most favorite way I can imagine? OK, a while back in the analog days, while the Konica 7090S was a pretty good machine, the Konica 7090RF was the essence of evil, so there's the victim. The preferred method of destruction: connecting the machine to the electrical delivery trunk line (if the 42KV ones aren't available I suppose the 17KV ones will do) and waiting until all that's left is a sparking pool of molten metal.
Or I guess just run the thing over with my second most favorite truck I got to drive while I was in the Army Reserves: the HEMTT ( Oshkosh HEMTT Images).
