Re: Gun Control
I would have to rephrase "approx 50% of Americans do not believe that a gun is the right thing to possess when trying to protect oneself from a criminal."
I should have said, approx 50% of Americans do not possess a gun, in the unlikely event, they had to protect them self from a criminal. They either do not see the need for one or cannot afford one.
It is equally untrue that every criminal possess a firearm when committing a crime.
American gun ownership seems to be increasing among white males who own multiple guns on average partially accounting for the spike in gun sales.
It is my personal opinion that if you confront a criminal with a gun with a gun of your own that 50% of the time it is going to turn out badly for either yourself or the criminal.Leave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
I understand that some people live in a world filled with crime filled paranoia that motivates them to purchase firearms for personal safety. That is their right and no one is trying to take that right away.
For example, Mississippi, has the 4th highest annual firearms death rates per 100,000 in the USA at 16.8. and the 8th highest % of households that own a gun at around 53%. The National average is around 45%.
Firearms Death Rate per 100,000 - Kaiser State Health Facts
The debate is over what type of firearm and accessories is reasonable for a home owner to be able to purchase. I am sure if an AK47 was available to purchase at your local gun shop, extreme pro gun lobbyists would be all for it.
So in response to your question and acknowledging the fact that gun sales have recently spiked upwards in the USA, approx 50% of Americans do not believe that a gun is the right thing to possess when trying to protect oneself from a criminal. This belief is based on real facts that state that owners of guns and their families are much more likely to be victims of those same guns which exist in their homes every day than in the small chance that someday their home might be attacked by criminals with weapons.
Self-Reported Gun Ownership in U.S. Is Highest Since 1993
Wonder what these 50% think the is right thing to possess when trying to protect oneself from a criminal
Also as my granddad would always say " wonder what color the sky is in their world'Leave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
Fueling the Golden State's gun-control debate, a new statewide poll says a wide margin of California voters favor beefing up what already are among the country's toughest gun laws.
They back tighter controls and taxes on ammunition sales and outright bans on more weapons, according to the new Field Poll, and strongly reject training teachers to carry concealed weapons at schools.
In record numbers, California voters now say it's more important to put new controls on gun ownership than to protect Americans' rights to own guns, the poll says.
Field Poll: California voters favor gun controls over protecting Second Amendment rights - San Jose Mercury News
Gun violence is a regularly debated political issue in the United States. Gun-related violence is most common in poor urban areas and frequently associated with gang violence, often involving male juveniles or young adult males.[1][2] High-profile mass shootings have fueled debate over gun policies, even though these events are relatively rare
For anyone who believes more laws, taxes or outright ban will stop this
I have some ocean front property in West Virginia for sale cheap
As in previous post 8538 involved firearms and rifles were used in323
If a ban were put on rifles how long would it be before the government quotes these figures
and said we need a ban on other firearms as well
I hope I am wrong
But I believe its a one step at a time process for the government to control every facet of our livesLeave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
You spouted off about some imaginary theory about how it's safer not to have a gun in the house. Now you're spouting off about how no one is trying to take my guns away - i.e. limiting my rights to purchase and own a gun - and I'm raising the bulls**t flag to full mast.
The question was: How does limiting the rights of honest gun owners do anything to prevent the violence of criminals?
Now, since you seem particularly dense and ignorant on the subject of answering questions directly, I'll give you a hint. You may start your reply in the following manner: Limiting the rights of honest gun owners will prevent the violence of criminals because...
The rest is up to you, I'm not giving you the option of dodging the question. I will be here to make sure it sticks, no diversions or distractions. Do us the favor of a direct answer to the question or admitting that you can't give us one.Leave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
I remember reading the stats prove that it is much more likely for bad things to happen to good people who own guns via those same guns than if there were no guns in the household at all.
I find the number quoted by Yoko Ono hard to believe as well but it would be at least somewhere in the range of 12k gun fatalities per year x 32 years = 384,000 people = Tulsa or Jackson/Gulfport.Last edited by SalesServiceGuy; 03-24-2013, 01:31 AM.Leave a comment:

Listened to Neal Boortz for many years on the radio he often said don't believe anything I say until you have researched it for yourself
Of course everyone knows anything you hear on radio see on TV or read on internet is true as long as it fits your argumentLast edited by rh112; 03-24-2013, 02:30 AM.Leave a comment:
