    [People] ADHD anyone?

I have read in numerous magazines and such that the perfect job for someone with ADHD, or just plain old ADD, is a Field Service Technician job. As a matter of fact, now that I think about it, I can remember quite a few coworkers in this industry that fit the "ADD profile" to a TEE! (Now I'm not saying that I don't fit that profile myself!)
    I'm just curious.
How many think they may have ADD or ADHD?
    Has anyone actually been diagnosed?
Is this too personal? If so, I'm sorry. Maybe I just need some reassurance that I'm not alone!!!

Only three of symptoms. According to the website you need six symptoms to qualify.

    I'll see what I can do. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I didn't see a link to see if I qualify; I'm sure I have some kind of compulsive disorder - look at my signature. Attention to detail is paramount, and if you can't concentrate on what you're doing, you will make mistakes.

        This is where I read:
ADHD Information | Understanding Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

This is not an endorsement for any sort of drug. =^..^=

I remember having a attention disorder one time briefly as a child. Old man took a belt to my ass. That got my attention, therefore I got my mind right.

I agree with Blackcat, these things make it impossible to be a technician:

Careless mistakes/lack of attention to details
            Lack of sustained attention
            Poor listener
Failure to follow through on tasks
            Poor organization
Avoiding tasks requiring sustained mental effort
            Losing things
            Easily distracted
            Forgetful in daily activities

Well,...with the exception of losing things. I am forever, dropping screws, clips, springs, and etc... That's why I carry a small box of extras. I am sure the person who said that either has had bad techs working on their stuff or has it in for us.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

My Dad slapped me on the back of the head and yelled "Pay Attention Dammit".
                Problem solved.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

This sounds more like a management position to me.

In my personal opinion, atwageman and nmfaxman said it best; nothing a swift kick in the ass can't cure. This is fabricated BS to sell more pharmaceuticals. Penis is broken, pill for that. Hair falling out, pill for that. Funny colored finger nail cuticles, pill for that. Lack of eyelashes, pill for that. Can't pay attention, we have a pill AND a name for that.
Back in the day, this was called speed and it was illegal.
Now it is called Adderall or Ritalin and is not only legal, but marketed and advertised heavily.

Know what's worse than realizing you exhibit a lot of these symptoms routinely? Having the obsessive compulsive kick in and thinking you need to work harder to exhibit the other ones.
