    Civilian Conservation Corps

This is a rant and a rave.

My father was from a poor Mossouri family and during the 30s there was no work. President Roosevelt stated a program to put men ages 18 to 25 to work putting in camp grounds, repairing parks, hiking trails, Making pinic tables, shower rooms, bathrooms, road building etc. Single men only. They were given room and board and were payed $30 per month. $25 of that $30 was sent home to the family . He was in the CCC for 2 years. Worked at Deception Pass , Washington and the Rouge river in Oregon. Now this was a program that really helped the folks. The people were glad to have this program. Working teaches respect don't you think? Unemployment was about 20 per cent right.

Now we move forward to today. We have Welfair. Don't work, get free housing, food ,etc. And people have a I don't give a darn mentality.

Question. If you want a monthly check from the government then why can't you do some work for it like they did in the old days. ?? I'm all for helping people but can't they do something in return? Just wondering.

it's a brilliant idea, they tried doing it where I live, but then the unions complained that "cheap" labour was being used to do what the local government employees could be doing, but they were going to be doing work that nobody else did.....and then there's the problem of their "human rights"....too many people want to sit on their backsides & do nothing at all....apart from sit in the pub all day long...
Tip for the day; Treat every problem as your dog would.....If you cant eat it or f*ck it....then p*ss on it & walk away...

I am totally in favor of getting public service for tax dollars. However, as soon as it starts, some politician will complain that the government doesn't need to be expanding and giving people jobs, and the whole project should be privatized to a for profit company, that coincidentally happens to be a contributor to this guys campaign. People should work for their money and a project like that could be referred to as improving our infrastructure but then it becomes a political issue again and gets killed.
