very carefully of course
imagine the mess if it was not
Looks like some dickhead pulled the toner bottle out with the cap still in the supply unit and made a little mess. Then, in a fit of idiotic rage uncorked another toner bottle or two and spread it around to show that damn copier tech who's boss. Sometime I wonder how I keep a smile on my face after crap like that.
This customer tried to use toner as an alternative to carpet. A few more bottles may do the entire floor? (Repost I know, but it is a corking photo)

Did they try to get you too clean it?
Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.
Could you actually imagine being the tech that got THAT call?
Actually, yes. A while back, I got a call for a toner spill, and when I got to the place I saw something similar to that picture, except there was toner footpaths leading out of that room (although I imagine that was the case for that photo as well). It took well over an hour to clean that up and I had to empty my vacuum's filter three times in the process, and then I had to take a shower and do laundry when I got home. Blegh.

Unless you did it or the machine did it, it's not your problem. Did you charge?

I can imagine it ... because I was just such a tech.
It was a Mita DC-2585 with the "brick" shaped toner cartridge. These cartridges had a little magnet hidden in the edge of the plastic to actuate a reed switch, to tell the machine that it had a cartridge. If someone were to install a cartridge backwards, no magnet over the reed switch ... means "Add Toner" remains, and two 5mmx5mm squares of plastic break off, chew up the foam roller, and drop into the developing unit seizing the developing unit.
Well maybe it just needs another cartridge ...
After the fourth cartridge, the toner is pouring out of the cooling vents into the bypass tray. I think the manager realized at this point that maybe something was wrong. This was a retail store, so he went out to the electronics dept and got a shop vac.
By the time I arrived the manager had left the building. The employee cautiously opened the door and stepped back. The entire office was a nice even shade of gray. The floor, walls, ceiling, copier, furniture ... everything. I moved a letter sized piece of paper on the desk to reveal a clean rectangle 8.5 x 11.
Two vacuum filters and 4 hours later there was a clean area 60" x 60" x 60" which included the copier, and a path 24" wide from the door. 18 plastic corners retrieved, foam roller and developer changed.
The employee asked me what I was going to do about the rest of the room. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
