    Annoying stickers

Does anyone else refurbish machines and find getting the stickers from the past company a ballache to remove?

I've always used CIF and a lot of elbow grease... But earlier i decided to use the air in a can, but turn it upside down so the liquid comes out instead (The freezing cold gas)

The sticker came off within 5 wipes with a cloth!

    What do other people use?
Have you tried turning it off and on? No...Oh, it works now!

Hot air gun. Careful cause it can burn the plastic.

I collect my competitors stickers. I have them on the back of my notebook. WD-40 will remove the sticky residue.

A product called D-ink. Soak the sticker for a couple minutes and it comes right off. An absolute necessity if you work on ink duplicators like a Risograph.

... but not (5) wipes. It takes a whole lot of scrubbing. Perfectly clean though ... maybe too clean. The plastic is always a little lighter where the tag was.

On the transparent tags often you can see a silhouette of the text. =^..^=

              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.

The hot air gun works great to remove the sticker. Then I use some dispersant from the old liquid machines like the Savin 770. Still have some of the stuff. Works great on the glue.

5 local. Was in an elevator with a tech from 1 of them and he kept looking at my notebook. When he got off, I noticed I had about 4 of his stickers on there.

Well Mr. Bill, you have shown your age. Guess I'm showing my age by posting this. I worked on those Savins back in the day as well. I used dispersant to start fires with on campouts or bonfire parties.

Anyway, I use a cleaner called "Awsome". you can get it at Dollar General for a couple of bucks. Its concentrated, but I dilute it with water. I use it to clean rollers, covers, and just about everything. If that doesn't work on the sticker issue, I use Goofoff. Very, very small amount. Another thing I use is majic eraser. Cheap to. We deal with alot of off lease equipment, and the eraser works good on covers.

Agree 100% with awesome. That stuff is great, i have never seen anything that takes off built up toner like it does and best yet its only a buck. Its kinda funny though when a customer asks what you are using that is working so well, they expect you to say its some super concentrated expensive copier cleaner, but when you tell them its a dollar store cleaner they look at you with that your a cheapskate look. Next time im going to tell them its kryptonunobtainium that costs $600.00 an ounce, well see what kind of look i get then

                          I guess I'll show my age too ! ( Savin , APECO , Copystat , Canon , Remington , Toshiba , just to name a few ... )
We also poured the used dispersant on FIRE ANT beds, AND LIT EM UP . Great for Yellow-Jacket nests as well ( had to wait 'til dark to do those though ).

Dispersant is great for label adhesive on drums and rollers.

The paper stickers are the worst. The adhesive turns to brown cement. Just keep soaking it. It does loosen up.
