haha... Reminds me. One of my female cousins ex-boyfriends brought brand new set of polished aluminium mag-wheels for his hot car. He drove it into work for the first few weeks to show of the new shiny bling. Every morning the neighbourhood hound would graciously leave a telegram to all the other dogs as he lift his leg an pee's all over the shinny new mags. After a couple of weeks of this every morning, the guy starts fuming. Being a Telecom technician, he wired up one of the old phone exchange HV ringers to each of the mag wheels....

And you can work the rest out for yourself....

He did how ever inform me that the problem of the dogs deviot telegram delivery service was solved once an for all.

    True....

Heh, I had a problem like that when I was in High School, except my car then was a rusted out piece of crap (it's all I could afford then). I was about ready to hook an electric fence charger to the car, but luckily my Dad told me that was the stupidest idea I'd come up with so far, as that would have wrecked the alternator. I ended up parking in a place that dog never went.

Most people I have known who have had this problem with dogs used a Ford Model T ignition coil.

My primary school teacher had a mustang fighter plane ignition coil, he bought it to school for show&tell.... Whoa... It must have had NIB or SMCo magnets firing the coils, it kicked(correction flatten) every 1/4 turn of the rotor. From memory we could only turn it a 1/4- 1/2 of turn each time as the magnets were extremely strong.

We tested how much the HV kick could resist. We lined up 25-30 children hand in hand, a spark still left the finger of the last guy. Talk about break dance moves coming out of all the kids each pulse. Micheal Jacksons music video "Thriller" couldn't match the teachers ignition coil moves....

No... but I got the shock of my life when I got to hold my secret little sweet hearts hand, sparks really flew...

The hands on science experiment was totally harmless. None of the kids suffered any ill affets, ill affracts, ill effects. We were all to willing to experience what all the excitement was all about. You could say we had a hands on science example of what if felt like to play with electricity. So don't put a knife or fork in the toaster, all you kids out there.....

Seriously though, it was totally harmless fun....

My father had an old hand crank Dynamo from an early telephone. My brother and I would each hold one wire and dad would wind it up. Then we would touch out fingers. SPARKS! More fun was when dad was sleeping and we went to the garage and grabbed a couple wires that looked the same. We tucked the real wires into his socks, then woke him up from his nap to crank the dyno up and show our friend how it worked. We stood there holding the dummy wires, and he really whizzed that crank. Sufficed to say he got pretty charged up over our little prank, and we got grounded.

We had a spark plug tester that had a pin hole in the rubber boot that went down over the plug. If you made the mistake of placing a finger over that pin hole, it became a very shocking experience.

Model T coils and a six volt battery made a good hot seat. Cover the set of a wooden stool with 2 pieces of copper screen with about a half inch gap between them. Attach one to the coil output and the other the the coil ground and cover the top of the stool with fabric. Have someone sit on it and ask him/her questions. If you don't like the answer, press the power button for the coil.

"PRODUCE IRRADIATION DURING TRANSPORT. PLEASE CLOSE THE DOOR."
                        or

Seriously though, why can't the truck drivers put a padlock on the high side of the trailer rear door? Surely the anti Sus-domesticas couldn't reach up to cut the lock as the truck is stopped at the border.

When I was doing my apprenticeship as a telephone tech one of my fellow trainees wired one of those dynamos to the stainless steel urinal, a very unusual experience I have no wish to repeat!

My brother an I as young children had the opportunity to play around with one of our Uncles old field marshals crank handle telephones. I'd tell my younger brother to put his fingers on the two wire connect poles while I cranked the phone handle....

If it does actually make any difference in deterring would-be terrorists I'd be amazed. I'd also want to have a word with any God / deity that's so black and white that it would send you to hell for being shot with pigs blood bullets. It's not like you choose who or what shoots you.

The more things change the more they stay the same...................all of a sudden we're back to the 19th century and the Indian Mutiny.
The rumour went through the local troops in colonial India that the British had issued them with paper cartridges for their muskets that were greased with pig or beef fat. In those days you had to bite the top off the cartridge to pour its contents down the barrel of the musket and as the Hindus can't eat beef and Muslims don't touch pork it didn't go down to well with the locals. It wasn't the only reason for the rebellion but didn't help.
