If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: Where is the worst place your boss sent you?
Not weird or worst....
I go to a service call on a friday to what amounts to a very large cubical farm in a skyscraper, close to 200 employees. Been calling on the customer for years. I have to order a part and tell the customer I will return monday to install. Customer signs off on my paperwork and says see you monday and have a great weekend.
Monday I return with part in hand. I badge myself through security and enter the business. I enter the room and no one is there. And when I say no one, I mean no one. Also all cubes, furniture, etc was all gone. Only thing in the room was four walls and the damn carpet, nothing else. To this day we have no idea what happened, only speculation.Comment

Re: Where is the worst place your boss sent you?
It wasn't copiers, but when I was installing security systems. I was sent to check on a problem at one home and it was filthy, not just dirty, but not (and I don't think ever) cleaned. The mother had one of the children put a burned pot of chili off to the side and said she would not clean the pot up. I found the issue and had to return in a few days to replace the bad part. When I returned I noticed the pot was in the same place, it had not been moved or touched (from what I could tell). I walked out of that placed feeling like I needed to be disinfected.
Another security install issue. Got to one home and started unloading my tools when the lady there called someone (I believe she called because I didn't hear the phone ring) and then proceded to yell, scream, and curse the person. What made me nervous is when she said "Yeah, come on over and I'll kill you, I'll shoot you!!" I'm thinking "Great, I'm going to be shot doing this install. No wonder she wants a security system." I didn't unpack too much, because if anyone showed up I was out of there. No one showed and I did finish the install, but that first hour was a bit tense for me.If at first you don't succeed, redefine successComment

My boss sent me out to a nerve gas destruction facility. Had to be fitted with a gas mask an given a self injection kit.
Guard told if the siren put on the mask and injection your self in the thigh.
I am very glad the siren did not go off!Comment

- Places with 45 devices hooked up to a 15amp circuit and then the client wonders why the machine runs like shit.
- Anything military
- Any customer who says "your sales guy said it can do this" when it can't.
Not really specific locations for me just situations that make me wanna hulk smash the copyboard glass and go find another job.Comment

Back in my field tech days I would have to say Santa Rita Prison for Women. You might think, hey, a bunch of sexually frustrated women are desperate for some male attention. Yeah, no... These were "women" in the academic sense of the word, but yeah, no...But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

Early 90's, Irving Texas, the Harvey Hotel for two weeks of Mita LVC training in the middle of summer to learn about stuff I already knew. No wheels, snoring roommate, the only food was the very overpriced shit in the hotel or the Denny's across the street. I think I had one of everything on the Denny's menu that trip. It was so hot that you couldn't do anything except sit in your room and pray that a meteor would hit the hotel and kill you, or possibly a chunk of blue ice falling off a jet and coming through the ceiling to kill your snooring roommate. At least then the Sunshine Cafe at Mita catered in a decent lunch.Comment

Re: Where is the worst place your boss sent you?
My favorite types are when people do not know you are there. A women let me in to fix a printer in a deserted office with cubicles. I hear a door open and two loud voices. It's a family business and the two sons are yelling at each other and screaming and thinking they are alone. Lots of F bombs and threats. It goes on for a while and then one walks around the corner and sees me. Oh man he says, how long have you been in here? I look at my phone and reply 23 minutes. They both storm out.Comment

Re: Where is the worst place your boss sent you?
A local high school in Cleveland, Ohio. Allow me to elaborate...
Third floor teachers lounge, alone, working on a DP-8060. My back is to the door and I hear someone come into the room. I then hear the sound of the table legs scraping across the floor. I turn around and a security guard had shoved the table in front of the door. Upon noticing me, he told me to get away from the door, it had a long slender window in it. Still kind of confused, I peaked out the window into the hallway. I could only hear it at first, a dull roar with spikes of odd noises. As I peered out, I could see shadows bouncing off the linoleum floor in the hallway accompanied by the growing din of what I began to realize was a fight. Suddenly, a chair flew up the hallway and smashed into the lockers a foot from the door. I then took the security guards advice and ducked out of the door in the window. That's when the irony kicked in and I realized I was hold up in a room with a "security guard".
When it finally came around the corner, the noise was horrendous. Slamming into the lockers and the door of the room we were in. I'm not sure, but that security guard may have shat himself as the door was rocked several times as bodies slammed into it. I peered into the hallway and what a ruckus. Boys and girls, punching, kicking, throwing chairs and books, screaming and possibly biting. It was a rolling brawl, I have never seen anything like it.
After 30 seconds or so the ball of fury had moved down the left hallway. I grabbed a flat head screwdriver, held it in my right hand, grabbed my tools, ducked down the right hallway, down three floors and outside.
I didn't even see, hear or notice that security guard behind me the whole time. As soon as my foot was outside, he literally shoved me out of the way and ran off around the school.
Never a dull moment.

1-East Jersey State Prison (you may have seen this place in the following movies: Lock Up, Crazy Joe, Rounders, Malcolm X, He Got Game, The Hurricane, and Ocean's Eleven)
2-A facility that makes the little soaps and shampoos that you find in hotels. The machine was located in a raised area high above a bunch of vats that I assume were cooking something. Between the heat (felt like 120F) and the intense perfume smell, I could only take 10-15 minutes at a time before having to walk outside.
3-A middle school in Elizabeth,NJ. Walking down the halls to the room with the copier I saw rodents running around. While working on the machine, I notice the door to the hallway open to my left. Something flew by my face very fast missing me by inches and then POW. The object puts a hole in the wall to my right. Turned out some student "just for kicks" tried to bury a padlock in my skull. I packed up my tools in mid-repair, had a short talk with the principal and left.
4-Took a call at a school library for what was explained to me as "someone spilled lemon aid on the machine" to inspect for damage. On arrival I noticed a pool of fluid in the optics cavity under the glass. As soon as I popped the glass off the machine, BAM. The nasty smell of urine hits me like a brick. I pack my tools and tell my manager I'm done here.
5- I've had to service machines at a few mental hospitals too. Those aren't fun to visit. Walking into one, I saw a woman on the front lawn with her pants down, squatting and revealing herself. I walked inside and told the person at the front desk, "I think one of your patient is getting away."Comment

Re: Where is the worst place your boss sent you?
Not necessarily a horrible place, but fits with the theme of the thread as it's been mentioned before.
Nursing home about an hour away. The residents all crowd around the exit door in their wheelchairs, looking out the locked doors trying vaguely to remember what outside looks like without a pane of glass in the way, mumbling to themselves about nothing in particular. It's a pretty depressing environment...
Add to the fact that when I got there, I found what appeared to be Coca-Cola spilled on the front of the machine -- naturally they decided not to clean it up, or call us for that matter. It had sat there long enough to turn into a gelatinous goop that all but glued the front door shut of their Sharp MX2300, had also leaked down the front of the door onto the waste toner bottle, and further down until it hit the trays. Now, that would have been manageable, but the fact they let the warm, sweet, sugary cola sit in the dark paper trays, underneath the paper no less for god only knows how long, had allowed some large bacterial colonies to form in their paper trays.
I cleaned up the stuff that had spilled on the front cover, but I told them under no circumstances was I going to be contacting whatever was growing in their paper trays, and billed for the extra cleaning to boot. They told me the staff would get a lesson on how to clean up after themselves and last I heard they had bleached the trays to kill their pet microbes.Cthulhu for president! Why settle for the lesser evil?Comment

Re: Where is the worst place your boss sent you?
Maryland State Women's Prison: had to do a fuser rebuild on a Lanier 5618 I think it was. The office the machine was in was out in the general population area, and staffed by inmates. I was given an escort to and from and I never left their side. There were some 'girls' there who could scare any badass. They looked at me like they wanted to eat me alive.Comment
