Re: Who did you meet?
It's not anybody that anyone else would have ever recognized. After I left my wallet, that I wear around my neck on the counter last Thursday, by the time I got back home to retrieve it, Pepper, my 60 pound dork and destroyer of all, had retrieved it and eaten the strap that goes around my neck. This was a problem, as it was too big to fit in my pants pocket, so I carried it until I could replace it. Sure enough, on Friday the 13th, I left it, with lots of cash all my civilian and military ID, and other important things on a copier and left base. Getting back on base to retrieve it after a sergeant found it proved to be a real bitch. I spent almost 2 hours at the base visitors center trying to get back on base. About an hour into it I noticed a well dressed man with a pencil thin mustache and a bad comb over trying to get on base. I knew I had seen him somewhere before. When I was at the counter pleading my case, he was next to me and I overheard enough of his conversation for it to click as to who he was. The Secretary of the Army. He outranks the 4 star general that commands the army. I knew this because every unit has a chain of command set of photos that starts with the president and goes down to the unit sergeant major. I have been walking past this guys photo for about a decade now. I didn't feel as bad after seeing him have to go through the mess of getting on base. The greatest enemy of knowledge isn't ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen HawkingComment

Re: Who did you meet?
Haven't met anyone famous on the copier circuit, but through some of my old jobs and contacts I've met:
former US president Jimmy Carter
former US president George H. W. Bush (41)
former NFL quarterback Marty Domres
former NFL head coach Brian Billick
former Browns/Ravens executive David Modell
actress Christina Applegate (damn, she is tiny!)Comment

Re: Who did you meet?
Seriously though, I'm really nothing special, as the guys who have me on Facebook/have had the misfortune to meet or speak to me will confirm, I'm just a slightly squidgy around the edges, middle aged woman who seems to like pulling apart photocopiers. And if I get to meet any others of you, the pleasure will be mineThere are 10 types of people in this world, those who understand binary maths and those who don'tComment

Re: Who did you meet?
Can't say I met any celebs. There was a time I serviced a copier at the Cheeta 3 in Atlanta. Meet a lot of dancers. Also met the head guy for the federal government's reprographic department in DC. I was working for a dealer in the South who was owned by ALCO Standard Corp. They owned dealers all over the US. Our sister company in DC had their Govt contract pulled by Ricoh. Alco made a deal with Ricoh. I was asked to go to DC and help Ricoh. They only had fax techs working when I arrived. They sent me to this guy because no one has been able to solve the problem. Wow, was I nervous. Turns out, they installed a Ricoh FT-7060 in a file room with no ventilation. The problem was the smell. Told the guy what was going on and problem solved. Bet you liked the second sentence better than my story about DC.Comment
