    BEWARE!

I heard about this scam before but never had it happen.
    Had a Morgan Collins
morgan_collins1@aol.com contact me from my website asking if I sold toner for the HP 5200. These are probably the most expensive toners out there. They wanted to order over $2000 worth of toners. I told them I would only accept payment through paypal. Next day they sent a fake paypal receipt saying it was paid and OK to ship items. Of course I immeaditely went to my paypal account no money was paid. Just wanted to give a heads up in case someone never heard of this before.

    Re: BEWARE!

I get this nonsense too when I sell frimware. Now what I do is, I send an invoice from Paypal that my customer can pay and there's a record of it. Sometimes Paypal doesn't notify me of a payment but it only takes me 30 seconds or so to find out for sure. On another note, I have a new policy for selling frimware, the customer has to pay at least 50% of the price up front. Depending on where I get the frimware, sometimes I have to pay for it. Recently I had a customer ask me for some Toshiba frimwar, I bought it and paid for it, then the customer didn't even have the decency to email me back to tell me he didn't want it. (He's in my 'shit list file' now) He posted here in the Toshiba forum, I don't know why you guys and gals insist on helping end users. You're taking $$$ away from another tech's pocket. Someday there will be BIG Home Depot types of stores with copier and printer parts. It's really sunk it's teeth into the home repair market, But that's my opinion. And I know that selling a manual to an end user will almost certainly result in him f_cking up his machine even worse than it originally was and a smart tech will recognize this after the user finally calls a tech in.

2002 was the last time I worked in the field. I was a lowly ole printer tech. When I started selling manuals, I thought to myself, oh cool, I'll learn copier repair. Well, that's not how it worked out. After 12 years in this business, I couldn't tell you the first thing about copier repair. I don't even know what some of the terms are like 'm/c' or 'SMB' Even coming from a mechanical background, I don't know a thing about repairing copiers. Having a manual does not a technician make.
I was a Plumber for 28 years before I got into PC and printer repair, if you have a question on that subject you can PM me and I'll do my best to help you out, but I don't make house calls.

I'll get off my soapbox now. Thanks for reading.
