    Re: Eaglecam

I just turned on the Alcoa cam, and one of the juveniles is standing right in front of the nest cam, hamming it up as it were.
The Decorah cams are off until October.

In case anyone is curious, the eaglecams are on again. There's not a lot going on there right now though.
For what it is worth, the ALCOA cams are now run by Arconic.

        Re: Eaglecam

The first egg this year has been laid at the Arconic site.
It didn't look like much was going on at the Decorah site yet, but if anything will it shouldn't take too long.

It might be a false alert from what I've seen, but the local news said that there might be a chick at the Arconic nest:

Thought I'd throw my two bobs worth into this thread. Here's a link to Osprey House, a wildlife education centre in the estuary not to far from where I live.

Unfortunately not much happening this time of the year as the chicks have fledged and its another few months before the parents try again.

Occasionally they cruise over the cricket fields where we fly our model planes, riding the thermals and laughing at our feeble attempts to beat gravity.

There's three chicks at the Arconic site:

The weather is supposed to be pretty nice tomorrow, so you can probably see them then.
It's kind of windy and rainy now, but those eagles are well equipped to deal with those conditions.

While one of the chicks at the Arconic site is still covered in gray pinfeathers, the other two are starting to get actual feathers.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

I hear that. I haven't been able to get the Decorah site to work for a while. My computer isn't that old, but it was the cheapest one available at the local Wal Mart about four years ago.
I'll put still pictures from the Arconic site here if you want. Here's one from a of week or so ago:

You might want to try the Firefox browser or one of it's derivatives (I use the "Pale Moon" derivative, a branch of an older version of Firefox which has been updated ever since) with the "NoScript" extension to see if that doesn't cut down on some website bloat. To get the Arconic eagle site to work, you just need "arconic.com" and "livestream.com" active. Something I learned when on a dial up internet connection.
I think there's something like "NoScript" for the Chrome browser too.
Oh, you might also need to give Adobe Flash permission to run. A lot of browsers don't do that automatically anymore as it has had some troubles.

Looks like some of the chicks are getting transmitters so we can learn more about what happens after they leave the nest:

If anybody is still interested in this, the Decorah eagles have a new egg.

Decorah eagle lays first egg of the year

The Decorah eagle cam web site is now using YouTube for the videos, so it is easier on bandwidth.

If you check out the vid on YouTube proper, there's links in the sidebar for all sorts of different bird nest cams.

Well, it looks like there's a sad ending to the Arconic eagle's nesting season.
                              But that's nature for you.
