    The Young Dude or Gramps??

OK...not trying to start fistfights. Just trying to get a feel like the thing about not understanding Obama.

Who do you think you will vote for? Barry O or Johnny Mac?

    And why.

    K?

I'd have to say Johnny Mac on this one... I know he ain't the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I feel he's the lesser of the two evils. I just have a problem with voting in a leader to this country that doesn't want anything to do with it's flag, it's "pledge of allegiance", or it's God. I saw a clip of an interview on the news where he was asked why he would not wear an american flag pin on his lapel. He said something like, "I don't believe that proves anything, instead I believe in showing the american public how we can make this a better nation." I don't know, it's probably just me, but I can't help feeling that if we elect this guy the United States is headed for one hell of a sucker punch. Other than his apparent patriotism (or the lack there of), I'd probably vote for him but i just can't right now..

Well I really don't care that much for either. That's why i post these things to see what fellow techs here in the States think. For that matter techs in other coutries can sound off about them too. I mean it will for sure affect them somehow.

There really is not that much difference between the two.

I have to agree with just a tech. I will be holding my nose as I push the button for Johnny Mac. Being a Reagan Conservative I feel betrayed by my party. Both of them are too liberal for me.

One of the main problems I have with Barry O is the same reason as Just a tech. I question his character. To many questions that he leaves unanswered. I was brought up with the saying that you are judged by the company you keep. I am sorry I just can't vote for a man that is friends with a terrorist who bombed the Pentagon and the NYPD office. That I would have to say is the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back.

I am scared for our country's safety if Barry O. is elected. He has said that he would meet with no reservations with leaders of terrorist countries. I feel that Johnny Mac will be stronger for our safety.

Barry O has said that he would let the Bush tax cuts lapse, so a tax hike. Johnny Mac, keep tax cuts in place. Let me keep my money is what I say.

Universal health care? If it is so good, why do people in countries that have it, come here for medical care?

I know there are many out there that will disagree with me, and that is ok. I have many friends who disagree with me. We just agree to disagree. And I say that in advance to any who on this site does disagree. I am open to debate, but refuse to get in a debate about me or anyone else personally.

I'm not telling you who to vote for but I just want to have the whole story straight before you make your decision.

            I agree

That's why i started this thread bwecause I want people to get away from the tv and radio or at least the people that blather on both of them and actually see if what the candidates say makes sense.

When i talk about people blathering i'm not just describing somebody like Rush. It also goes for like Chris Matthews who said he gets a shiver up his leg.

This all calls for rational decision making.

McCain is for keeping troops in Iraq for "as long as it takes." I've got cousins and friends who I would like to see come home before anything can happen to them. That is my sole basis for voting at this point. I'm not saying Obama has a decisive plan for withdraw, but he doesn't want to keep our young men and women in harms way. I agree McCain is an amazing patriot and has served our great country more than probably all of us on this forum, but I don't agree with his stance on the war.

That's good and I agree withyour reason for wanting to be that way.

What it is is this is time to get away from the "He's a democrat and I don't care if he wants me to wear my underwear on the outside of my clothes my family has voted Democrat since 9000 B.C. and therfore I will vote Democrat(Insert Republican so I don't have to type that all over again.)."

I want people to see the man not the party. The parties have changed.

Does that make sense? I've been on both sides before so that is my perspective.

It makes perfect sense to me. I agree, people should look more into actual stances on what each candidate stands for and what agendas are important to them. The other side of that coin is actually acting on the things that the politician has said they will. But, if you don't have a little faith you probably won't vote anyway.

No.. I don't believe a pin makes you a patriot. Really.. And no I wasn't referring to an e-mail smear. I haven't even seen the one mentioned on the earlier post. The reason is, that I don't care for reading the crap, no matter who they are bashing. I just don't care for Mr. Obama as a presidential candidate because I feel that his character is in question. That's my opinion and I know not everyone agrees with me and that's their opinion too. Also, I do believe that the best kind of decision made is a well informed one and that's what i plan to do..

Oh, I'm sure i will vote. I would just like one of them to give me a reason that makes me feel like it's more than just the routine election. The past two or three presidential elections have sucked big green ones because NOBODY on either side was compelling enough to get people all on his side. That's why Florida was a debacle. It should never have been that weak.

Rush got mad at the Republicans two years ago and said he wasn't carryin' their water anymore. I ain't carryin' it for either side but there isn't a third that's anything but useless either.

I just want to see real leadership and I don't see it out of anybody.

Yea, i'm not really sure what's up anymore either.. It would be nice to have a leader that really gets everyone behind him. who knows, maybe something will turn around and we'll see the leadership come through from someone. Goodness knows, america has been starving for it for a while..

I enjoy McCain's personality more. He seems to carry an open sense of humor. Obama is a little more reserved with his sense of humor. That is what it comes down to for me. I have lived through a lot of presidential elections (12) and I know what is said on the campaign trail means very little about how a president will perform or even what policies he will actually support. However, a person's personality almost always carries over into their public office.

I pay very little attention to what either candidate says. One side is all about 'change'. I have never seen a presidential election yet where that word wasn't hammered to death.

The other side yacks about experience and patriotism. Like I haven't heard that a billion times before.

Nope, it is just a matter of who you'd like to sit down and have a beer with.
