Yep, its slowing up in this end of the world as well, monthly meter click is down about 9% this year. We're still arguing whether is the economy or that the paperless office is finally arriving.

Just as well its slowing down as my knees have almost ground to a halt, another attack of bursitis ( That's house maids knee in non-medic speak)
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

Around here, the "paperless" medical records systems have resulted in hospitals actually printing more. It seems that every time someone need to read a report on a patient, they print a copy. When they are through with it, it goes into the locked shredder box. Doctors and nurses don't like scrolling through a document on screen.

Yeah, the more people talk "paperless" the more they print.

Can you imagine the first company to perfect electronically eraseable paper (EEP) ? They would become a very wealthy business. In effect such a business would probably own a major portion of reproduction, media and newspaper corporations for sure.

As everything gets thinner it gets cheaper, they wouldn't be called Tablets or I-pads any more it will be called I-paper.
Simply lay your I-paper on an electronic mouse mat an upload todays newspaper or I-paper a parts manual...

Such technology would put the slowdown on the copier industry for sure....

We have installed 25 machines since Jan. Some new, mostly refurbs. It doesn't appear to be slowing down in our territory. (thankfully). However, I have to set up all these machines and try to keep up on my service calls. It is frustrating sometimes, but it beats sitting around the shop and twiddling my thumbs.

So sales are good. I was mainly talking about service.

Well they already have some flexable displays, e-ink displays that look as good as printed paper. What I'm excited for is the holographic type displays like seen on the movie Minority Report. Who knows what's in store for the future.

As far as slow down, we start slowing down this time of year with schools finishing out.. We actually started slowing down here about mid April, It really reminds me of 09 all over again.. lol Economy and or electronic world moving forward who knows.

I was watching a documentary on the idiot-box(tv) and they aired a segment showing that 3D holographic displays are already a reality.

There is a museum or university in china that has a fully working 3D holography display of the Forbidden city.
You can place your hands into the holographic light source at any location.
                      I found it interesting.

... back to the original topic of discussion ... yes, I've been starting out with two calls in the morning, but still keeping busy.

That's typical for this time of year though. the schools will start shutting down, churches lower levels of activity. Who knows? I might get some manufacturer training. =^..^=

                        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

Re: Are you slow right now?

There has been a noticeable slow down here that I began to notice last December. As mentioned, clicks are down and sales are down. Things really have never improved since the financial collapse in 2008. They just leveled off into this new (sucky) normal.

I for one don't feel very optimistic about this industry anymore. The equipment is becoming a disposable commodity item.
I think back to when I first started in this industry and every business needed a copier and they had to go to a copier dealer to get one. Even a most basic machine was thousands of dollars and there was a decent profit margin to be made on sales and service. You could even make decent money on Fax machines and Laser Printers. All of that is gone now. Hate to say it but the low end equipment from Brother, HP and others has gotten so good that many small businesses really don't need us anymore. It really has come down to customers who need mid volume and large machines and the number of those businesses is down or they aren't spending money.
