We have the first of "State of Origin" National Rugby Leaque" series starting here in about 1 hour.
It's a best out of three series where one half of Australia(Queensland) plays against the other half of Australia (New South Wales) in a man on man grueling game of brutal tackling of the man with the ball. The best twenty players from each State battle it out within the highest level of the game.

Every Television in Australia,New Zealeand and Papua Newguinea will be tuned into the 80 minute game.
We have a two week break between each game to allow for player injuries to heal and then they go at it again.

    Go Queensland....

I don't watch alot of Rugby, but it definitely qualifies as a real man's sport!! So much tougher than the NFL here in the states.... I see alot of similarity with NHL hockey with the toughness of the players!!!!!!!!!! However in hockey we still get the occasional FIGHT!!!!!!

This past Sunday ( Memorial Day in the states) was a great race day! Got up and watched the Grand Prix of Monaco, then the Indy 500, then the Coca Cola 600 Nascar race. I got my speed on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Occasional? There's a saying, "I went to watch the fights, but ended up only seeing a hockey game". Of course here in Bakersfield, we're only Western Division of the ECHL, not NHL. Our Condors just lost the division playoffs last night 4 to 2 to Anchorage, Alaska.

The best fight I've ever seen was at a hockey game!!!!!!!!!!!

That was when I was a kid and the home team was an AHL ( NHL farm team for the Rangers), The visitors and the fans had quite a Brawl...............

I must have ADD because I can't watch soccer/football for any more than a couple minutes and I start to fall asleep. Same reason I can't watch baseball. I need a little action in my sports, hockey provides that for me. Go Habs Go.

                    For the Aussies :
Update for last nights "State of Origin" Rugby League Series" in Australia.
NSW 12 points downed QLD 8.
What a brutal injury ridden game....
                    :: Injuries total ::
                    1 broken arm
                    2 dislocated shoulders
                    2 pouring blood forehead gashs.
                    1 twisted ankle
                    1 cramp-down
There was a couple of fists thrown an the odd loose elbow in the face during the tackles,
otherwise it was a good but a very intense game of Rugby...

In 3 weeks time we/they get to see it all over again for the second round...

Yes it appears it might be last-man-standing at the final third game of the series.
I just heard on the local new; there is another player out of the series with a hip injury from last nights game.
Sh!t...last nights State-of-Origin game was one of the most brutal in ages...

The NHL Standley Cup playoffs aren't quite that brutal, but brutal none the less. The Canadians and Rangers play again tonight, last weekend when they played one of the Rangers got his jaw broke in 2 or 3 places in the first period (cheap shot). He played the whole game before the MRI was done... and the NHL rounds are best of 7 games each round!!!!!!!!!
