    Re: Tech Tics/Habits/Quirks

I talk to myself when trying to figure out problems, and answer my own questions. I have had customers ask me what I said and I have to tell them I'm talk to myself, and I sure it looks strange for someone to have a conversation with themselves, but this has lead to solving many issues. My wife makes fun of me when she sees me do this and once asked why. I told her I enjoy good conversations with intelligent people.

Well, unless you're talking/conversing with your wife, that could have started WW3.

Sometimes I tap rhythmically with my finger tips in the plastic covers. Not to any particular beat, just when I'm waiting for something to complete. Most times anyway.

I also do this quite a bit myself. Also I like to twirl my screw driver around while waiting. Or tap the metal against my wallet in my back pocket, to make a thump thump sound like a drum.

Besides 'twirling', with a good handle on the 10" Philips, I would bounce it off the cement floor for a good double or triple flip to be caught midair (most of the time).

Quite the talent; my best is only being able to balance the long philips screw driver in the center of my palm for 27 seconds. I was never co-ordinated enough to consistently catch things, so I instead took to balancing.

When I'm working on a particularly difficult issue I have a tendency to rub my forehead and/or temple with my tonery hand to facilitate the thinking process. By the end of the repair I look like Mel Gibsons warrior face in Braveheart. Ok, maybe not EXACTLY like Mel Gibson. Actually, not like Mel at all, just some dumbass with toner all over his face.

When they tell you how fast you got there and that they had just called in, I like to tell them "we are dispatched by Dionne Warwick and her psychic friends network" or that "I ran"

When I get a comment on how clean the copier looks or how good it smells, I'll usually say " ... just taking off a layer or two of dirt. It's under here ... somewhere." =^..^=

                          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

I've noticed that I tend to make more noise - humming or talking to myself, when I haven't slept well the night before. As if the extra verbal processing helps the brain think it through.

Scientists say we all have a constant inner dialogue, some of us just tend verbalize it more than others and it seems to happen more as we age, lol
