    Fancy moving

    Hi
I fancy a change, I have always wanted to go to the states and live, Although I have never been haha.

Whats it like working as a field service engineer out there? I work on Xerox devices over here and it's easy to get about, I should imagine it's a nitemare over in the states.

I am going to do the Route 66 bike tour next year really looking forward to that.

Im sick of the RAIN here!!

It's a big country. Depending on where your at, you could experience single lane dirt roads and no traffic, to 8 lane wide highways crawling along at speeds that cannot be measured on a speedometer. It could be 21C in the winter and 43C in the summer, or -23C in the winter and 21C in the summer. It could rain every day, or rain almost never. What did you have in mind? I might be able to make a recommendation. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Your territory could be as large as over 100 miles across in all direction or as small as a 30+ floor office building where you use the elevator to go from one call to another. You may have to work on one model line or you might work for a company that sell one line but services what ever someone calls to look at.

Personally, I'd recommend Cincinnati. You get almost extremes of all weather, almost extremes of all traffic.

Although, you don't see too many copier guys making enough money to be able to just take off on a route 66 tour... you'd have to have some serious vaca time stored up, wouldn't you?

If you did come here, one thing for sure you'd have to adjust to is the lack of vacation time compared to what you probably have now.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

The most I've ever gotten in any job was 2 weeks.

Next year I go to 3 weeks. That's after 10 years with the company.

Vacation? What vacation. When you work for a small company you get a day here and a day there. Last year my boss was going to give me the last week of the year off. Then on the Saturday after Christmas he called and asked me to come in on Monday. Our other senior tech had gotten fired. He did however pay me for my time.

If you are wanting no rain, come try Bakersfield. Even in wet years we do not get much rain. Of course we do get quite a few weeks of triple digit temperatures.

Better get a motor when you go from Texas to Cal.
                            Lots if nothing for miles.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Weatherwise, you'll feel right at home here in southern New England, which, I gather, is NOT what you're looking for......
