    New Tech

    Hi everyone,

    Im new to this forum.
Ive been an assistant to a tech for the past few years, and have now moved up to try and make headway in the electronic industry via a Copier career.

My job entails repairing, maintaining and installing copier imaging and printing solutions.
The only copiers I have worked on are Canons. However i also work with printers as well as other electrical hardware. basically anything electronic to do with the company I can work on. Its quite fun and really interesting, but seems like im a 'jack of all trades master of none'.

Joined the forum in hopes of expanding my knowledge, and hopefully get to help others as well.
I work on St Helena Island, which is fairly isolated, an has its own unique problems such as ordering replacements and equipment tends to double in cost. Most of my knowledge is handed down by the senior tech,(quite old information),on copiers as there are no copier techs courses available here. so problems tend to be resolve by tonnes of research and getting familiar with service manuals, when I can find them.

would love to progress and do some canon service tech courses in the near future to make the company more efficient. But we'll see how that goes.

    Thanks for having me.

      Welcome!
You have IMHO a good start.. hopefully the tech you were working with at some time turned over the screwdriver and sat back and observed...

I found this is one of the better ways to break a noob into the field..

but from your post I have no doubt you will succeed and be a benifit to others here as well!

        Welcome!

I just came across my original Quest binder from 1992. It's not very current, but most of the concepts remain the same. If you Private Message me a destination I'll scan the binder to a PDF. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
