    new guy - hello

Another new guy here, just waiting for my post to be approved. It was confusing because I didn't see the message saying that it would have to be approved at first, and then it disappeared and never posted, so I recreated my post and then saw why it had disappeared previously. Sorry for the duplicate.

Also, I'm having major struggles with some of the forum features here, constantly getting HTTP 500 errors and page timeouts. For example, the numbers counting up in the top left of the forum appear to indicate new posts since I last read them, but when I click on them to view the post list (https://www.copytechnet.com/forums/search.php?do=getnew) I get this:

    This page isn’t working

Copytechnet Home is currently unable to handle this request.
    HTTP ERROR 500

    First, Welcome!
Second, this page isn't working for long time, maybe one of few forum glitches.
I just use What's New? or mark forums you aren't interested as read. Not a big deal.

Glad to have you join us.

HTTP 500 error in most cases, a 500 Internal Server Error is due to an incorrect permission on one or more files or folders. Frequently on a HTTPS:// it can often be advertisement that does not conform to HTTPS security standards or has an incorrect permission on a PHP or CGI script. Often these are Google push ads. Try using a quality ad blocker such as Adblock Plus.

On the other hand a 504 gateway time out could be any gateway, internet switch, your connection passes through.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks guys. Any idea how long it takes to get a topic approved for posting? I tried reading through the rules to make sure it was OK to ask about firmware updates, couldn't see any prohibition on that.

Easy way is to Welcome some of other newbee in this section to increase your posts count maybe to 10 and you will be able to open new thread.

If memory serves me right, this forum was served via unsecured http when I started coming here. Somewhere along the way, it was migrated to https - I'm guessing the errors are because of that - forum components that are still expecting a standard http connection.

Thanks for the welcomes. It appears that neither of the 2 threads that I had started previously have been approved - will this never happen or do I just need to have a higher post count and then try re-posting the question again? I was hoping that a mod would see the post and manually approve one of them.

It really depends on admin time and he Aneurysm is the only one afaik. Another way is to increase your posts counter to about ten. Easiest way is to welcome new guys in this forum.
We miss a mod or two but that's the way it's now.

Thanks for that, it sounds like it used to be better but some key people moved on. Well, I found the information that I think I need after a while, so hopefully that does it for me at the moment. Thanks again.
