    Printer Technician Acronyms

Hi, I'm new here. I have 7 years working with Epson inkjet printers mostly, I have done some HP inkjet repairs too, but I'm new to toner based printers/presses.

I'm a end user who service it's own devices just because here in Latin America most "technicians" are just garbage.

I always look up for service manuals before getting into the device, and if I don't find it, I just either pass on it or take my time to get my way into it.

One thing I've noted is that toner based printers/presses have a different terminology, for example PM, what does it mean?. Is there (here in the forum) a glossary of terms of this common used words in this field?.

    Thanks in advance.,

    Well, PM= Preventative Maintenance

But since we're garbage I don't know that you should believe me.

    And Welcome, by the way.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Welcome lynspyre.
I'm sure your experience with techs is just some bad luck. Cuz we have some pretty good members here.

I didn't called you garbage, I said "most technicians in Latin America...", but if you got alluded, I'm sorry, you can be excluded from this argument.

        And thanks for the enlightenment!.

I know, forums are a family, and when someone new arrives and say something that could be misinterpreted or misdirected to a member of that family, it may trigger someone.

As tsbservice pointed out, my experience with technicians here in my region has been disappointing. Opinion is based on experience, and as it, will vary from person to person.

I hope I can continue my learning journey and get along with all members of this family.
