    I am a noob!!! * Waves his right hand... His left hand was not part of the excitement

    So as I stated In the opening title... I am a noob who bought a Toshiba eStudio 5540c from eBay. After driving up a dirt road I moved that heavy piece of equipment inside. It worked for 3 days... I printed maybe 7 papers... Then the HDD crashed. So I decided to out smart the smarts of the copier. And after reading a couple pages of the service manual. I formatted the HDD. To never be turned back to working from there on. ( I removed the HDD disk from the HDD case. So now I am doing my research trying to find the master data software for the HDD replacement install.

    So yep that is this guy who did all that!

      No master install disk.
      You need firmware.

          You might want to request a service manual in the " manual request forum"

              I do have the service manual... First thing I did once I got home.

              The code really doesn't matter that much in respect to the HDD failure. I removed the HDD and physically learned what they looked like from the inside of the HDD. Before I chose that path for the HDD... The HDD would give error I/o if I tried to mount it in my computer .. it wouldn't let me partition any part of it, nor create any volumes. It was toast so I turned it into a learning experience. Now I am going forth with getting a proper HDD and am not finding any of the HDD software that is mentioned about. And they seem to toss the terms firmware, software, programs, and drivers around like they all are the same thing.

                  Hi, these HDD's have wipe technology and are encrypted, it's not a ordinary HDD, hence you can not format/read etc
                  You need new HDD Wipe technology and firmware. You may probably reuse your original HDD if you find firmware but it will crash at any point.

                  Good machines though if you have a good tech
                  Defects are simple, our mind is complicated

                      Did anybody notice that it was an e Studio 3540C yesterday ... and it's an e Studio 5540C today?

                      I know because I looked up the hard drive, because I couldn't remember if it had the Wipe Drive. The 3540C is first machine to have the Wipe Drive. =^..^=
                      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

                          Maybe but anyway, if HDD crash, best way is to bay new one and to add firmware. If old HDD crash, it will crash again.
