Hi everyone! I'm perhaps not the target audience for this forum as I'm more of a software guy than a hardware/technician guy, and more interested in saving consumer printers from landfill than servicing high-end office MFPs, but I hope nobody minds.
Been lurking here a while as I didn't really have anything to contribute, but now I do. I've been working for a while on reverse engineering consumer Epson printers, and the gray market waste ink pad reset business that has formed around it, with the end goal of releasing everything to the open-source community.
I've been documenting some of my progress over at #12 - Several Epson printer models (WicReset database) - atufi/reinkpy - Codeberg.org, where I dumped a popular commercial reset tool's database, and reverse engineered Epson's official reset utility. If you're interested in the open-source reverse engineering community that has formed around these Epsons, I suggest you check out atufi/reinkpy: Free and open waste ink counter resetter for some (EPSON) printers. - Codeberg.org, GitHub - lion-simba/reink: An utility to reset Epson printer ink counters, GitHub - Zedeldi/epson-printer-snmp: Read information and reset waste ink counters on Epson printers, using SNMP., among others.
If anyone here has sold or serviced these consumer Epson printers, or any Epson printers for that matter, I'd love to hear from you!
