    removing user data (security risk) from hard drive in canon ir4570

    how do i
    remove user data (security risk) from hard drive in canon ir4570.
    as the copier is being sent to another department or school.

    If it is at a high enough firmware version you go into additional functions>system settings>Initialize all data settings . If that option is not have your local service provider upgrade the machine to the latest firmware so you get that option. Otherwise you can always pull the HDD and buy a new one and have the firmware reloaded on it.

      i'll see if the additional functions is in the menu?
      we want to keep the machine working but clear all user data.

      i take it the machine will not function if the 'entire' drive is reformatted
      on a pc for instance.

        no you would have to have a tech come out and reload the firmware for it to work again, but it would definetly clear off the data if done correctly.
