Entering the printer tech world late in life!

I have been working in the IT industry in many roles. Software developer, various support levels, Project manager, Director and hardware tech. I have made minor repairs to printers and copiers in the past, but without formal training. I am now taking on refurbishing workhorse printers and mfds. I hope I can contribute to the forums at least as much as I benefit.

    Welcome!

Are you doing this independently, or are you working for a company or dealer?

Starting from scratch means having to learn a lot in a hurry. That can be difficult without the support structure of a service department. There's no reason that Copytechnet cannot be that support structure. Just be prepared to ask a lot of questions, especially the "why" questions. When you know the "why" to can figure out how to fix almost anything.

    =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Best of luck with the career change of direction.

How good are your knees? After a few years of copier servicing, your knees will be the most banged-up part of your body.
